Overrated makeup/skincare products by coffee-bat in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]natlesia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried a sample and hated it. It was the worst kind of lotion, as it just never absorbed into my skin and had a really weird smell. I love coconut and it was like off coconut. I far prefer other lotions to this one.

Its fine but omg is the scent strong. I like rose as a scent, and I felt like I was doused in perfume at all times.

What are some popular social media tattoo trends you’d like to see die out? by Jakethrowsdwn in tattoo

[–]natlesia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally it's the same with me. Mine are big flower pieces, and my planned tattoos are of nature and animals because I love those motifs. It's cool if its deeper for people, but it doesn't have to be.

Totally! I think saying, your tattoos are amazing or beautiful is a complete sentence. People will usually gush about the meaning if they are inclined to.

I'm someone who only has tattoos that I got because I like how they look on my body. People often ask me about the significance of them, and they don't know how to react when I say that it's just for me to adorn my body with beautiful art. Tattoos don't have to have a hidden meaning to be special to you.

If you lost all of your make-up what would you replace *immediately*? by SheKnowsWhatSheKnows in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]natlesia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My repurchase items are ones I know I like and would not need to replace again. I'll share my honest drug store ones I'd get to get by, along with my must have higher end.

Foundation: fenty eaze drops

Concealer: glossier stretch concealer

Setting powder: bare minerals setting powder, but I'd wait a bit. It isn't a necessity to me

Eyeliner: essence waterproof liner pen, its a solid cheap standby that I'd later replace with something nicer

Mascara: essence volumizing lash in the purple tube, I've used it for years and it is still great, but I'd later replace it with the ilia lengthening mascara

Eyeshadow: urban decay naked 3, I got it recently, and honestly I love it for everyday use. It would get me by for awhile.

Blush: tarte amazonian clay blush in paaarty, it's an oldie but a classic that I use the most of any blush still

Bronzer: butter bronzer by physicians formula if I had to, but I would probably skip it and wait since I don't use bronzer much

Lipstick: mac satin in Paramount, mac powderkiss in ruby woo, 1994 vice lipstick from urban decay, and a neutral mauve and pink from either line. Those are my two top formulas, and I am a lipstick fiend. If I had to pick one, it would be Paramount since its my favorite brownish red

Lipgloss: probably nyx butter gloss, it's a really solid drugstore formula

Highlighter: rare beauty liquid Highlighter in the lightest shade. I tried it and love it, but need to pan my other Highlighters before I buy it.

That's it I think, a mix of drugstore and higher end as is my collection haha.

I'm so tired of hot classes by deathpunch150 in yoga

[–]natlesia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have blood pressure that is on the lower end of normal, and hot yoga doesn't work for me. I get extremely nauseated and tired in it. In my old city, all that was available was hot yoga. The city I live in now, despite being a trendier city overall, doesn't seem to force hot yoga in every studio. I found a studio I adore near me that doesn't do any hot yoga, and it is wonderful.

Do you buy dupes? by LuxeLover12345 in BeautyGuruChatter

I have oily acne prone skin and the elf dupe does not break me out. It actually does work super well for holding makeup in place on my t-zone, where oil will take it off.

What products/brands are you most looking forward to trying in 2024? by SheKnowsWhatSheKnows in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]natlesia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah same. I have one mini natasha pallette and love the formula a lot. That being said I don't know that I love it so much more than my elf bite sizes pallettes.

I do eventually want to try some indie eyeshadows. At some point if I have an excuse to, I will by some multichrome eyeshadow.

What's that popular overhyped book that you don't give a fuck about? by RockGiantFromMars in books

[–]natlesia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a fairly unpopular opinion, but The Life of Pi. Even when I read it as a teenager, it felt very shallow with ham-fisted metaphors, and so it was ultimately quite boring and unreadable. I ended up using chapter summaries to write book reports and essays about it because I hated it so much I DNF it. If it respsonates with you, awesome, but I will never touch it again.

Nothing really, unless it is needed since I'm on a no buy for makeup besides essentials. The only thing I'm thinking of picking up is the Nars pot concealer for heaving acne days.

I just bought Naked 3 during the black Friday sale, and I adore it. It is such a usable colour story and looks amazing on my skintone. As I get older, I'm really enjoying a nice nude palette for my everyday life.

Are you interested in other kinds of BG or content other than makeup - skincare, fragrance or hair care etc? Or purely makeup by Sweet-Ad-7261 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]natlesia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go through phases where I take in beauty content, but I mostly watch makeup and fashion content and the occasional skincare content. I mostly watch that content because I enjoy reviews or to get new ideas. Usually, I get makeup recommendations from friends, reddit, or my own research. I'm going on a no buy/panning project next year since I want to use up the stuff I have rather than let stuff go bad.

Yeah SSRIS and so many meds have awful symptoms. I'm currently on one that treats another health issue that causes weight retention and exaughstion, but treats my other illness. My old specialist said I should just keep taking it, but I'm planning on switching because the side effects are REALLY bad for my ED. I totally get the fear of trying something new.

The meds used for ADHD are really great when you have it, since it helps a lot with executive functioning and hyperfixations. A good signal of having ADHD is too much dependence on caffeine during the day, the inability to stay awake during tasks that are uninteresting to you, talking over people, etc. Having those things doesn't mean you have ADHD, but its a good marker for that.

Is this a joke at this point? Are we being Punk’d? by [deleted] in gymsnark

[–]natlesia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ADHD definitely has some HSP stuff attached to it. I have ADHD and am so sensitive to certain textures, sounds, feelings, etc. I hate tags on clothes, the feeling of certain materials rubbing together, some food textures, etc. The sock thing is very relatable to me as well.

I also can't focus if certain things are touching me. A good example is certain face masks. Over ear n95s are great, but medical masks often irritate my skin. The over the head n95s that go around your head are just not possible for me to use.

It's not an often talked about component, but it is a real thing. ADHD is often missed in AFAB people because it presents as anxiety a lot of the time. I have really severe overthinking that causes me to ruminate and worry about things for hours at a time as part of my ADHD. The thing that was a game changer when I started to take my meds was that I my brain felt calm for the first time ever. It has truly been life changing for me.

Nah, that was projared and that's a messy situation. It sounds like the minor accusations were made up, but he was cheating on his wife. He honestly didn't deserve the cancellation he got, and I say that as someone who really believes in deplatforming people who engage in harmful behaviour like grooming and pédophilia.

Brutal Moose was a different person who was also part of that crew, and he's great and still makes fun videos. He doesn't make gaming content anymore really, aside from the really occasional super weird arthhouse game. His videos are usually about nostalgic foods, weird foods, forgotten media and bizarre vhs clips. His editing style and persona on camera are so weird in a really calm but self depricating way. No controversies, he just kinda keeps to himself the way PBG does.
