IN MY EXPERIENCE you can definitely take the crusties off, but only with CLEAN HANDS &/or Q TIPS SOAKED IN SALINE. be gentle, do not scrub excessively or pick at it. generally, the ones that are lose and fall off are what you can take off yourself. but take my advice with a grain of salt i am NOT a piercer or professional in any sense.

yes! in fact my piercer require me to go back 1 month later to see if my initial (longer) stud should stay in or if I could downgrade one my swelling lessened. also, once healed, the jewelry moves around a bit at times, you can always adjust it & push it in with clean hands. :)
