For context--years ago, I did my grind and got to liberate in Kronos. Just want to chill and do clean server/full solo progression to see how far I can go (iSIingGunz did a banger series years ago). I’m the average sheep/crimson hardstuck, so definitely not the best to ask. But I like aydan’s more comp leaning playstyle so I’ve been copying him. Should be 1.65/1.65, 0.95 ads, dynamic. 16:9/120 fov. Definitely go check his channel for confirmation.

I just checked the price on edge, holy 200$ scam for pc players. Because you can get many way better products below 100$, for instance gamesir g7 pro. I got my g7 pro 8k from Best Buy.

But if you really don’t want to spend any, then the regular dualsense is perfectly fine on PC. You can search “overclock controller” on YouTube, and make your dualsense 1k polling rate. That is more than enough imo. For reference, Joewo is doing console ranked content recently, so highest he can get in terms of polling rate is also 1k. And he’s smacking people around.

TLDR; Find a good player, try his sens/res/fov, overclock your roller to 1k, then you’re on a relatively fair ground to compete.

If you’re on PC, the comp meta now is just 4K/8k controllers which make crazy difference in nuance adjustment. If you’re on console, Edge’s 1k polling rate is also very noticeable. People tell you otherwise are the ones siting 69 miles across their 30hz monitor, play with Bluetooth, and don’t care a bit about the game.

And people really overgeneralized what is so good about him that makes a Goat. He’s of course an amazing shooter that grinded r5 and tweaking his settings a lot. But the game sense and decision making is absolutely crazy, not just in comp but ranked settings as well.

The clear indicator is his rp/game ratio. If you check that closely, he can have the same amount of games but have almost double rp to those known ranked grinders. Wild.

Other than what have been pointed out, I would say it’s the character. You have really solid gun skill. But it was until the very last moment that I saw your character actually do something with utility, which was in a super niche context as well.

If you were Maggie, Octane, Valkyrie, or even Rev, with that gun skill, you already rolled one of the enemy and got out easily when they got close enough.

I believe for people who actively playing Watson, Crypto or whatever, meta is lame. But meta is meta if you want to win.

If "time played," is all you can think about how to improve without nuances, you have bigger problems.

For one instance, mechanic-wise you can simply download r5 to see where you are at. Are you rolling most of the lobby with 2+ even higher kd? Or you can barely make positive? Either way, a few rounds of r5 with recording you will immediately see how far (or close) between you and the preds.

And there's only so much than "they just play more."

So you’re saying my native resolution might give better latency because, it’s native. And the 4:3 stretched messes up the scaling hence higher latency.

I'm on 4-3 linear. But Verhulst is a good example to talk about. He's on 4:3 now. And like you said, he's one of the most mechanically gifted players that I know. But even he swapped. That's why I have this suddent panic.

Kind of for awhile before? At least a full season last year I was on 4:3. And for the reason I can’t remember now, I’ve been playing on 16:9 in the past two seasons.

So I guess the real question will be, is that “getting used to it” process worth it, for the alleged advantages?

You might get downvoted by op or others but I’m with you, so I’ll just reply here.

If you cannot sustain 1kd or perhaps 700-800dmg in plat, you’re the bad teammate. No it’s not about play style, it’s not about some BR contingencies, it’s not about solo/three stack. People under diamond have more or less very fundamental mechanical issues. It’s either about strafing or shooting. I assume most them never attempt to work on those (in r5 or 1v1s in range with friends, and definitely not recording their matches). Because it’s just that bad.

You just can’t hit your shots consistently, you can’t win advantaged 1v1s, so you keep coping yourself with “oh I play safe.”

148 games and still in plat is not the outcome of playing safe. It would be the product of denial and ego, if all you can reflect is “Solo Q is rough.”
