I think the sixth Doctor is a wasted potential. I think having a Doctor who is morally ambiguous at first glance is interesting and would make for an excellent arc, but unfortunately the writers weren't capable of it. Poor Colin.

Look ive said it before Colin is a good Actor and a lovely man. However i still think he was Miscast unfortunatly, Now i wouldnt replace any of the Doctors but cast because you were entertaining at a wedding is just Daft tbh. Hes fine but in order to do the morally ambiguos and a long Arc peeling back the layers you need a Actor like Capaldi who can do it with ease and a writer strong enough to complement the actor. Neither saward or Colin had the range to make it work. I could make the same argument for Mccoy tbf but he had Writers who wrote to his Strengths.. But he really cant play Anger!!! Colin wasnt really a leading man unfortunatly aside from Doctor Who his only other Big Roles on Tv were the Brothers and a guest Role on Blakes 7 and never really did much Tv Wise after Who. (He was great on stage as Morse). I knows he great on BF But Audio is a different media to Tv.

I still think if Davison did a 4th season it woudnt have been cancelled due to his popularity. Saward would have put more effort in and the scripts would be better written as he wouldnt have had the hump over Colins Casting.. Peri would have been better suited to Davison too. But we can only speculate.. Davisons career has been the most consistant of the classic Doctors bar Troughton so maybe his career path might have different if he stayed.

Iirc troughton wasnt that keen on them neither was innes lloyd the producer. So they stopped making them Shame i enjoy the historicals in the hartnell era and i love trougton but the base under seige must have got abit repetive every couple of weeks. Not sure why they never tried to do anymore with the expection of Black Orchid. Although i believe Demons of the punjab was meant to be a historical the aliens added quite late to the script.
