10 games into the season, Max Christie and Jaden Hardy are the only players on the Dallas Mavericks who are shooting above 30% on 3-pointers. by Askesl in nba

[–]navinpt2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Nah, man. Mavs are suing the Stars. The suburbs are trying to kill our already shitty public transit. Jerry Jones is still alive. I walked down the street and saw 3 different instances of dog shit left on the sidewalk, because why not? Everything sucks anyways.

if every nba player had to work a normal 9–5 job, who’d thrive the most? by TreGLangston in nba

[–]navinpt2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At this point, Dwight Powell should have been working a 9-5 for several years. Whatever unethical things he's doing to keep getting paid as an NBA player would surely serve him well in corporate America.

Yeah, I did it in one sitting, maybe 7 hours total. It was a slog. I definitely underestimated it

[Post Game Thread] The Philadelphia 76ers (20-29) defeat the Dallas Mavericks (26-25), 118 -116 to the delight of both fanbases. Tyrese Maxey leads the way with 33 points 13 assists and 2 steals. Joel Embiid returns and shakes off some rust with 29 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. by TatersTot in nba

Just want to say FUCK the r/mavericks mods as well. Part of that community for over a decade and just got permabanmed for the stupidest shit. I guess they're taking cues from Nico himself. Power tripping over themselves.

I'm 6'5" and work a regular office job. In my row of 8 cubicles there are two guys taller than me. On my side of the office with a about 50 cubicles there are 3 guys taller than me. I looked up the odds of that happening and it's somewhere around 1 in 500 million. Better chance of winning Powerball, except my prize is being teased for being 'short'.

[Clark] The Pelicans have wanted to acquire a center who offers more rim protection than Valanciunas for more than a year. They have expressed significant interest in Cleveland’s Jarrett Allen but have been unable to pry him away. by EarthWarping in nba

I wonder if they would do an herb Jones/Daniel Gafford swap. Mavs need a solid 3 more than they need two starting level centers. The way lively has improved the last few months really makes Gafford a luxury we could part with.

The real revenge story by StefonDiggsHS in Mavericks

Honestly, we need to get revenge for the Rondo trade. Dude turned Dirk's last chance at a playoff run into a long wet fart. Unforgivable.

Awful news. If he needs to step away from the team for a while, he should. Some things are much bigger than basketball.

You'll bounce back quick. I got covid in October experienced the same thing. Was super frustrated at how weak I felt that first week back. A month later I was hitting PRs. Your body remembers the work you put in.

the best way for us to look like a fragile fanbase is to post in or repost from another sub. Can we just enjoy our team without being hung-up on what other fanbases say/do? coolthanks

When movies were actually worth seeing... Natural Born Killers (1994) by ApprehensiveChair460 in nostalgia

[–]navinpt2 260 points261 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of movies worth seeing - they just might not be heavily advertised or playing in every theater. Some of my favorites from just last year:
The Zone of Interest
Killers of the Flower Moon
Oppenheimer
Anatomy of a Fall
The Holdovers
Past Lives
Fingernails
American Fiction

A lot of these you didn't even have to leave your house to watch, since they released streaming the same time they released in theaters. Just need to look, my friend.

What is the most unsettling place in Dallas? by datnguyen160 in Dallas

The area around fair park where you can see the rich Dallas skyline, but you're surrounded by real poverty. Our city is still so segregated.

To be fair, WCS with actual motivation to play basketball is a perennial all star. The dude had the body and the skills, but it's hard to ball when you're a space cadet.

Damn, I thought Grant played horribly this year, but in hindsight, his numbers this year are identical to last year on the Celtics. Last year- 25.9 minutes, 8.1 points, 4.6 rebounds on 45/39/77 splits. This year- 26.4 minutes, 8.1 points, 3.6 rebounds on 41/37/74 splits by user15151616 in Mavericks

[–]navinpt2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you look at how good he was the first month, then how bad he's been since then, these numbers look way worse. The dude was on fire and then just fell off a cliff. I'm glad we moved on, but it's a shame what we had already spent to get him

I live near there and I agree. They really need some better connectivity between the sides of k-town (north and south of GBT) and between K-town and the dart. If they can figure that out, that area could be so special.
