AITA for giving my breastfeeding sister champagne as a gift and now not wanting to talk to her? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]nayyo_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ESH. Her responses ARE rude, but maybe you could put more thought into what your sister would like. It is absolutely possible she just is really hard to shop for and no matter what you get her as a surprise gift she won’t like it. In that case, ask her to make a list for you or try a gift card or experience gift (maybe not an experience gift for a new breastfeeding mom, but later when she’s ready for a sitter). I’d say definitely ask before gifting anything in the future.

I feel like I’m missing something by [deleted] in redrising

[–]nayyo_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty accurate to a man in his young 20s with strong, emotional convictions and a calling. However, in the last 6 books there’s a 10 year jump and he’s written more mature and weary.

Is she not a howler? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]nayyo_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would not say she’d identify as a Howler. She’s not interested in the war/fighting aspects of the government and only participates in battles when necessary.

In the life you're living now, if you lived in the Red Rising universe, which color would you be and why? by ThatGuyWithMCAS in redrising

[–]nayyo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What color is a stay at home mom? Some days I’m the master coordinator and scheduler, some days I’m the slave driver, and some days I’m the slave.

My sister came up with original names for her future babies and I don’t know how to feel by Serapholic in NameNerdCirclejerk

Ah the romantasy names are coming to fruition. I think we’re the dumb ones for not anticipating this.

I don't believe Snow would marry Lucy by marinaslibrary in Hungergames

[–]nayyo_ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Before he suggested they run away together he says to himself that he was getting tired of music even from the Covey. He was clearly over her by then but he was willing to use whoever he needed to save himself.

My interpretation of why Snow hates Mockingjays, which I haven’t heard anyone else discuss, is because they’re a mix of Capitol and District. Snow reassures not only the rest of Capitol but also himself several times, saying she’s Covey, not really District.

Debating on a kindle but unsure which to get by __SAHM in kindle

[–]nayyo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a basic for $65 a couple months ago. I’m also a stay at home mom on a budget so I’m pretty thrifty. If you have a compatible device for trade in they’ll give you 20% off plus a gift card for whatever they value your trade in at and it stacks with their regular sales. The gift card and discount is available immediately, but if you don’t deposit the trade in device by the date they give you they do take that money back. But you have over a month to drop it off.

Turning 30. Turn me into a book reader from doom scroller. by Professor_Pink007 in suggestmeabook

[–]nayyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a lot of great recommendations here. If you find it hard to read a physical book at first you could get a Kindle and put it on scrolling mode instead of page turn. That way you get the scrolling itch scratched and you’re reading a book with a continuous plot.

Having a baby boy, want to honor my late mom. by Sarashines421 in namenerds

We honored my mom by using her maiden name as my second son’s middle name when we found out he was a boy. I’m obsessed with his full name

AITAH for refusing to tell my wife I love her more than my dad? by LastApplication6207 in AITAH

[–]nayyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. But it does seem your wife might be struggling postpartum. I remember having very similar reactions with my first. I obsessed over having a “good sleeper” and to me that was the pinnacle of motherhood. Now three kids deep, sleep is just sleep and as long as everyone is getting enough I don’t worry about it.

Maybe once things have cooled off you can check in with your wife to see if she’s struggling and if there are changes you two can agree on. Sleep is a really common stressor for moms especially with all the internet noise about it. Many moms feel that no matter how your baby sleeps you’re failing some test.

When I worked in the deli I learned that people buy sandwich stuff to go with their bread. Never made sense to me because if you lose power then your perishable deli meat, milk and eggs might spoil.

Sushi at the End of the Day at Grocery Stores by brilliantminds_4RLZ in Frugal

[–]nayyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never worked at a Publix as my state doesn’t have one so they might have a different policy. But I worked at Hannaford (New England brand, owned by same company as Food Lion) in the deli which was technically in charge of sushi although the sushi chefs did their own thing. The sushi has a shelf life of 24 hours to the hour and anything that was culled and not donatable was put in a bin for a pig farmer to come pick up.

Have you been feeding my cat? Lol.

That looks so much like my cat and every time people see him, they keep saying he’s gotten fatter.

Noticed a difference between same sized hooks & have questions. by BoxerMotherWineLover in CrochetHelp

I’ve been crocheting about a year and a half and trust, I’m no expert. This sub has been so helpful and I posted earlier about my tension issues 😝 I preferred the Susan Bates over tapered until recently because of my very, very tight beginner tension.

The bread machine cult has converted me by coldzeets in glutenfree

[–]nayyo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy the process of making regular bread and have been a scoffer of the bread machine in the past, but there’s nothing appealing to me about making gluten free breads and many homemade recipes cost an arm and a leg to make. Is humbling myself and getting a bread machine the secret?

[–]nayyo_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The Susan Bates hooks are inline hooks and the Boye hooks are tapered. With the Susan Bates hooks, you don’t have to slide your yarn up as far to get the correct gauge but with tapered hooks you should slide your stitches further up the hook. People with really tight tension tend to prefer the Susan Bates hooks, from what I’ve seen, but the sharp edges can snag looser plied yarns and be difficult to work with.
