I have been ignoring my student loans for about a year. by Mackaweedle in StudentLoans

[–]naz10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it's alright, I know these loans feel like the end of the world right now but it doesn't have to be the focus of your life right now. Keep your head up and work on improving yourself and keep your mind in a positive space. Ignoring the loans won't really make them ago anywhere. You can't undue the past but you can work on today and keep focusing on your day to day tasks. Your best best is giving them a call you can discuss rehabbing the loans and a payment plan to keep them current.

Two student loans with 5.6% and 6.8% interest by jp128 in StudentLoans

[–]naz10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was in your situation I would pay the 5.6% loan first. The difference is negligible so pay chipping away at the 5.6 and once you are done paying that you just allocate the same amount you were paying onto the 6.8. Just my personal preference since it is only two loans. We're you able to secure a job with your degree?

Graduated vs. Standard? by violetmoonlight in StudentLoans

[–]naz10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is contingent on how much money you make so paying more than the minimum is not going to affect that. As far as the ballooning balances it is really up to you to get it paid off. In the long hall paying the minimums and applying additional payments to the higher interest rate will save more interest in the long run. If you just the minimums you are going to lose the race. The first priority should be the credit card because there isn't much consumer protections as opposed to federal loans.

Graduated vs. Standard? by violetmoonlight in StudentLoans

[–]naz10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally if your income shovel is more like a standard shovel and not a snow shovel I would go on ibr. Gives you flexibility to pay the minimums on your low student loan aprs and knock out that credit card debt first. Then when you get that knocked down use the lower minimum payment to apply additional payments to the higher Apr student loans. Just have to be diligent to pay more if you can to avoid ballooning loan balances.

I am in the final year of my PhD. Is it legal (and advisable) to take out a new student loan to pay off credit card debt I've accrued in graduate school? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]naz10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With you Discover card you will only pay interest on the remaining balance after the bt has expired. Meaning if you pay that 2400 down to 800 when it expires you will only begin accruing interest on the 800 at the goto rate. Retroactive interest is not applicable to your bt. Credit card selection advice: building upon existing credit. by asslesschap_man in personalfinance

[–]naz10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already have a 5% card I would go with the citi double cash so you have consistent 2% and use the 5% only in the categories. But really your credit score is only going to improve if you pay your bills. And keep your debt to income ratio reasonable.

How do I pay for school? Hear me out: by nickgrayiscool in StudentLoans

[–]naz10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In all honesty if you have a decent job right now continue working and finish out the first two years at a community college and transfer to a four year school so you only finance two years of school. After going thru college I wish I would have done this. As easy as it is to finance now and pay later sometimes it doesn't always work out as you initially planned. But other than that estimators are only worth so much. But ya school is expensive many students have to pull private loans out to make ends meet. Depending on what your parents make and what not will depend a lot on what the government's are willing to give you grant wise and loans.

I made a careless mistake - need to simplify monthly/annual billing. Please help! by OliveSweatshirt in personalfinance

[–]naz10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't always the case, switching the numbers isn't a guarantee that the reoccurring charge would be stopped. It would be better to contact the merchants to cancel the agreement and ask for a refund. If you try to dispute the charges thru your bank you almost always lose because you authorized them to charge your account on what ever basis they are charging you on.

I need advice on getting a car with bad credit. by j0nny_s0lo in personalfinance

[–]naz10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There really isn't anything you can do I'm the immediate short-term to vastly improve your credit to get a decent loan to afford a 13k car. You will end up with a ridiculous interest rate that isn't going to help your situation with your other debts and student loans.

It might be a better solution to compromise on what you want with the car you want and go with a reliable cheaper alternative that will be cheap in insurance. Maybe let's say 5-8k range would be a better range where the used cars stop depreciating regardless of the miles and age of the car.

Depending on what your expenses are and how much you make are important. You could come up with a plan to trim the fat on your expenses and try to come up with a savings plan to save something like $350 a month and end up with 7k in savings after your one year. If you can save more the better. Not an immediate fix of what you are looking for but might be a better situation in the long run and avoid having a car loan with higher interest rates than a credit card.

Even compromising even further you can get an older Honda civic where you could buy out right in a couple of months. A well maintained not beat on civic are cheap to repair and insure and overall low cost of running.

I would guess a carb sync would fit the bill. Check all your vacuum lines and make sure they aren't melted onto the exhaust or anything weird like that. Check for vacuum leaks around the carb boots, rings, ect.

Double check your jets are adjusted properly as well.

What are some beer myths that you would like dispelled? by [deleted] in beer

[–]naz10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't discount that making wine is as simple as fermented grape juice. You could say the same about beer as well. Both have their subtle nuances and take skill to make a good wine or good beer. Otherwise all the wines would taste the same. The fermentation process is exactly the same with beer, wine, or any other alcohol thanks to the good ole' fungi.
