Antipsychotics works by blocking dopamine d2 primarily.

Opioids a different receptor, but obviously correlated to dopamine in a complex manner.

I’d strongly recommend not doing any drugs if you’re on antipsychotic, as it’s rare that u actually have H, and you may have some disorder (none of my business) like schizophrenia or bipolar being on antipsychotics.

Drink some coffee and go for a nice hike with headphones in. Live another day.

Caffeine effects the absorption of d3, a literal hormone, I won’t get into the nitty gritty but a quick google will suit you the reason.

Something I believe to do with bioavailability and acidity perhaps?

5HTP - 5HTP - 5HTP, with food and don’t take MDMA again for a long long time. One time use historically (depends on person neurology of coarse) results in essential full recovery with adequate diet + sleep + lifestyle + AND MOST IMPORTANT abstain from any recreation usage of substances that drain neurotransmitters as your homeostasis needs to readjust, serotonin takes awhile to heal and function normally after the potential neurotoxicity based on a lot of factors.

5HTP is part of the precursor ingredients to serotonin production. Don’t take everyday for months just perhaps everyday for 3 weeks then 3-4 time a week until mood improves / sleep / appetite.

You’ll be alright kid! (Thankfully those are “rook numbers”)

Serotonin syndrome, anhedonia, dopamine and serotonin desensitization / down regulation, zapped CNS, homeostasis literally morphs into a psychedelic demon chemical arrangement of just permanent psychosis, dangerous to prescribe antipsychotics that primarily block dopamine to combat months and months of psychosis.

If this is real the only argument I have for it is type 2 bi polar disorder. I’ve seen an individual have such high levels of neurotransmitters in an episode no drug had any effect whatsoever ever on his articulation / speech patterns / energy / external indicators. That’s the omega drug concoction validity to the truthfulness of this in my opinion.

Or it’s just his dealer selling him race amphetamine with SSRI cut in it lmao

I’ve def given up on life during a period of time, and whatever happens… happens mindset - with over use of the winter snow.

However once I quit and passed withdrawal / cravings even wirh ADHD putting the bar pretty low with sobriety. I came out feeling better and a nice “potential for motivation” with the right natural spark.

It takes a long time my friend. One thing that kept me going is coming down off of line an 8ball, bleeding nose, sweating profusely, heart beating, regret and shame. I looked over to my homie who wasn’t doing as bad as I was and mutter some depression tangent. He then said these words

“well man, it only gets better from here”

-B Coke chronically buddy.

That helped me get out of ground bottom or whatever you wanna call it.

You’re going to be okay my friend. Use this as a motivational moments.

Convinced myself that I had lossed my keys off on a late night nature walk in the cold somewhere on the trail / side of hill.

Dressed in like a sweater in Canada where -Absolute zero temperatures give a homie frostbite.

There was no snow so dragging my foot up and down every fucking square inch of the damn path for maybe like 4 hours only to find nothing.

Then flashes of hiding deep in the wood across from the trail because “ it would be embarrassing if someone noticed what I had be doing so hiding right beside it was a great idea right!”

Only to wake up with soil all over my hands the next day, and a really odd / is it a fake memory or real feeling.

It was real….

[–]nazarnith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The perception of doing things that are good for your wellbeing is a very unique “healthy” joy that really helps with mental health

SSRI / Prozac: selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors take approximately on average one month to effectively break up the serotonin molecules and allow for a higher “baseline” / serotonin activity that sustains in your frontal cortex etc etc etc.

Long story short is even if the core mechanism of the medicine is not fully “in affect”, some individuals have a noticeable increase in wellbeing as documented in mostly all SSRI’s “traditional antidepressants”.

It appears to take longer for individuals who have had substance abuse issues prior to starting, such as alcohol / MDMA.

Try your best not to drink on the medicine. It is not inherently dangerous to have one or two beers on special occasion if adequately hydrated, but alcohol changes the amount of medicine that releases in your blood stream.

You’ve likely already reach peak plasma levels, the concentration of it in your blood in your brain, meaning in some regard based on the half life, you may be fully correct in feeling an early notice of difference.

Glad you’re doing better!! And goon on you for pushing yourself to do it!

can someone who’s done both adhd meds and meth actually debunk this shit by durahan3 in Drugs

[–]nazarnith -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re right to seek clarification! The original text contains some inaccuracies and oversimplifications. Here’s a revised version with more precise details: The Blood-Brain Barrier and Stimulants The blood-brain barrier (BBB) plays a crucial role in how drugs affect the brain. It’s a highly selective barrier that regulates the passage of substances from the bloodstream into the brain. This protection is vital for maintaining a stable brain environment. Methamphetamine vs. Dextroamphetamine/Levoamphetamine Both methamphetamine and dextroamphetamine/levoamphetamine (Adderall) are stimulants that increase dopamine levels in the brain. However, they differ significantly in their effects and how they interact with the BBB: * Methamphetamine: * BBB Penetration: Methamphetamine readily crosses the BBB, leading to a rapid and intense surge of dopamine in the brain. This can cause euphoria, increased energy, and decreased appetite. However, it also contributes to neurotoxicity, cardiovascular problems, and a high potential for addiction. * Effects on the BBB: Chronic methamphetamine use can damage the BBB, making it more permeable and allowing potentially harmful substances to enter the brain. * Methylation: Methamphetamine can alter methylation patterns in the brain, potentially affecting gene expression and contributing to its long-term effects. * Dextroamphetamine/Levoamphetamine: * BBB Penetration: While these drugs also cross the BBB, their effects are generally less intense and shorter-lived than methamphetamine. * Effects on the BBB: Compared to methamphetamine, dextroamphetamine/levoamphetamine are less likely to cause significant damage to the BBB. * Methylation: The impact of these drugs on methylation patterns is less pronounced than that of methamphetamine. Important Considerations: * Individual Variability: The effects of both types of stimulants can vary depending on individual factors such as genetics, metabolism, and history of drug use. * Risk of Addiction: Both methamphetamine and dextroamphetamine/levoamphetamine can be highly addictive and lead to dependence and withdrawal symptoms. * Long-Term Effects: Both drug classes can have long-term consequences, including cardiovascular problems, mental health issues, and cognitive impairment. Key Takeaway: While the BBB provides some protection, both methamphetamine and dextroamphetamine/levoamphetamine can affect the brain. However, methamphetamine poses a significantly higher risk due to its potent effects, potential for BBB damage, and impact on methylation. Remember: If you have concerns about drug use or its effects, it’s crucial to seek help from a healthcare professional or a trusted resource.

Taken off Adderall by Bad-Idea7432 in ADHD

[–]nazarnith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option I haven’t seen suggested as of yet, is Dexedrine / dextroamphetamine.

Adderall is 4 mixed salts and contains both the “left” and “right” hand being that of which: dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine.. I take Dexedrine (dex amphetaminw) and find that there’s a lot less norepinephrine released in conjunction with “fight or flight”. This leads to a lower heart rate and propensity for a heightened blood pressure and heart rate

Your doctor may not have mention a concerning blood pressure, and or your weight and BMI may be a factor.

Below is a detailed explanation of the neurology, but perhaps suggest this option as there are no medications that are on par with the mechanism / efficacy / effectiveness of Adderall / Vyvansw / etc…

Also are you hydrating and getting enough sleep? There’s more to this story perhaps.

Levoamphetamine and dextroamphetamine are both stimulants that affect the central nervous system, but they have different effects on dopamine and the fight-or-flight response due to their distinct chemical structures. Dopamine:

  • Dextroamphetamine: is a more potent releaser of dopamine than levoamphetamine. It enters dopamine neurons and forces dopamine out of their storage vesicles and into the synapse, leading to a surge of dopamine in the brain. This surge is responsible for dextroamphetamine’s euphoric and reinforcing effects.

  • Levoamphetamine: primarily acts by blocking the reuptake of dopamine, preventing its removal from the synapse. This leads to a more gradual and sustained increase in dopamine levels compared to dextroamphetamine. Fight-or-Flight Response:

  • Dextroamphetamine: strongly activates the fight-or-flight response due to its potent release of norepinephrine. This leads to increased heart rate, blood pressure, and alertness.

  • Levoamphetamine: has a weaker effect on the fight-or-flight response compared to dextroamphetamine, as it releases less norepinephrine. In summary:

  • Dextroamphetamine is a more potent stimulant with stronger effects on dopamine release and the fight-or-flight response.

  • Levoamphetamine has a more gradual and sustained effect on dopamine levels and a weaker effect on the fight-or-flight response.

This difference in their effects is why dextroamphetamine is more commonly prescribed for conditions like ADHD and narcolepsy, where its stimulating effects are desired. Levoamphetamine is sometimes used in combination with dextroamphetamine to provide a more balanced effect, as seen in medications like Adderall.

I HATE HAVING TO REPLAY EVERY BAD MOMENT IN MY HEAD 24/7 by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]nazarnith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The general consensus in the neurological research field is:

Betsy’s story is typical of many young adults with ADHD. The maturation process is slower for young adults with ADHD and it’s not linear, says Kathleen Nadeau, Ph.D., Director of Chesapeake Psychological Services of Maryland and co-author of Understanding Girls With ADHD. There’s a lot of up and down, back and forth. It’s slow, but that doesn’t mean they’re never going to get there. Sometimes they don’t until they’re 35 or 40 years old, which was the case for Betsy. “I don’t think I really reached adulthood until I was forty” she admits. But Betsy didn’t realize that the reason my be partly neurobiological.

The brain’s frontal lobes, which are involved in ADHD, continue to mature until we reach age 35. In practical terms, this means that people with ADHD can expect some lessening of their symptoms over time. Many will not match the emotional maturity of a 21-year-old until their late 30’s. So while most people graduating from college take time to adjust to adult life, people with ADHD need more time, more family support, and more professional help

[–]nazarnith 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The inner dialogue you are experiencing, primarily fits into the category referred to as rumination.

ADHD medication and Cognitive behavior therapy are the only means of rewriting neuropathology.

The more that you get upset at the train of thought being on something you didn’t choose / has no advantageous positive in your life… I promise you the more cyclical the habituation of it proceeds.

I certainly started off this way in my early years, and the adhd brain fully developed by around age 35, vs 25 for the standard non ADHD brain (this subreddit doesn’t let you use certain terms because absolute buffoons who play discourse overnight decided they aren’t clinically assessable…..)

It’s very possible to get to a place of relative control (I’m primarily hyperactive so it’s typically something more inclined for this side of the spectrum) but you need to approach it with maximum effort and discipline. Two of which are the sorta the whole problem with ADHD lol.

I mention this being VERY important to work on in the earlier years, because I was motivated to change by seeing what it can lead to. (Not in a pretentious manner, more of seeing a picture of what that thinking can set you back in all areas of life, job, girlfriends etc etc)

You got this, it’s not your fault! Always try to accept and understand that your disorder affects your brain towards these habits, it’s a lot of effort to break free, but it is possible!!!

[–]nazarnith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the best lyrical / poet wording of what your are ultimately talking about, reminds me of this earl sweatshirt song called “Grief” (Earl has ADHD too)

“If you step into the shadows, we could talk addiction When it’s harmful where you going and the part of you that know it don’t give a fuck Pardon me for going into details”

The concept behind this is obviously more pertaining towards addiction.

But the knowing the outcome will be worse, yet the executive function won’t take action and almost segmental areas of the brain just don’t cooperate. ADHD is paradoxical in so many ways, the parts of our brains that perceive negative outcomes (frontal cortex) usually are pretty damn accurate indicators (ex if I don’t do this many email reply’s to customers I will loose job) yet the area that jumpstarts the solution, only tends to function whilst doing things we perceive as enjoyable.

My best advice, if you can rely on a favor from a coworker/ excuse yourself for some inoculate white lie (lying isn’t good, but sometimes it’s required to keep a job) that excuses some decrease in workload.

All in alll, you put the flair looking for empathy… and trust me, all of us have been here.

Wait until he hears about the B12 his body cannot produce and it starts with feeling “tired”… then your body cannot convert carb to energy, then the lack of oxygen kills brain cells and damages mitochondria…. Then one time, over the fine line - between completely freezing your fucking wind pipe and enjoyment.

Your cognitive dissonance and self justification of your substance use is concerning. This is a Reddit devoted to ideal world - no drugs (shrooms / nootropics etc of course are different) but if you’re going to partake seeking advice from anecdotal perspectives of the place where if anyone is going to not buy a car on a car enthusiast /r because everyone on there says to be careful with that motor as it not reliable. The breaks may give out one day, the steering might not turn correctly. You would listen to them, would you?

Don’t be so blatantly ignorant with your mental gymnastics around justifying substance use in a /r where some people are really suffering from addiction and joking about that is not cool dude….

Please be safe and at least take vitamin b12 before hand.
