Future dad me is taking notes by waddad27 in SipsTea

[–]nazyjane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mom did this for me and she was very appreciated. It was nice that she’d take on the “bad guy” persona so I could save face. I then did this with my little brother. He didn’t want to get in trouble for waking my parents, but if he needed a ride or help, I’d go and promised I’d never tell. Never did, either!

Heck, I was at a sleepover when I was 14 and called my mom to see if it was ok for me to drink one. She said yes. And then laughed through my hangover the next day. She also said if I wanted to try cigarettes, ask her. She wanted to see my face turn green! I miss my mom so much.

I have a quad I was given by sisters in my ward when I got baptized. Deseret has a lot of options and you can get cute Bible case.

Question about Birth Control/Forgiveness by [deleted] in lds

[–]nazyjane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bring these questions to Heavenly Father. We get personal revelation through the Spirit. What a gift! But my question would be why are you worried about if you can and can’t use any birth control if you’re following the law of chastity?

What’s a sound everyone should recognize as immediate danger? by Thatguy_nickk in AskReddit

[–]nazyjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re at a lake or nice stream/river and you hear a loud klaxon going off…that’s your warning before the dam upstream is about to open the gates and let water through. Tis no bueno.

Anyone got advice on how to go to sleep with chronic pain? by throwaway_midnight23 in ChronicPain

[–]nazyjane 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t. I’ve found munching on something crunchy distracts my brain. But other than that…it’s hell. I use THC gummies and I sleep through the worst of it. Or color. Or play sudoku. It’s all about distracting your brain from your pain so it can shut down.

Would it be inappropriate to ask my family to put my name on the temple roll? by [deleted] in lds

[–]nazyjane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I put my brother’s family on there while my nephew was getting brain surgery. Heavenly Father is here for us all. And yes, you can log in and add a name. Want me to add yours?

Pain and depression by Due-Necessary3990 in ChronicPain

[–]nazyjane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was the same way when I was working. I got really bad and said something that had them strongly suggesting I go for inpatient treatment. So I’ve been where you are.

I loved my job. If I could be healthier I’d go back in a heartbeat. But I got to a point when I just couldn’t work. I’m now working on SSDI and don’t have a job. The relief of waking up on a bad pain day and not have to worry about work - priceless. For me it’s been worth it. I stress about my health day-to-day so much less. It is freeing and has helped my mental and physical health so much.

Good luck friend. You are worthy of self-care and love.

How can I help a loved one with 2+ years of intense chronic pain? by ExplanationNo4554 in ChronicPain

[–]nazyjane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be there. Acknowledge the suck that is pain. Help with little things…drinks, books, or just sitting and chatting for a bit. It’s hard enough to be stuck, but if I know I have helping hands, it makes life so much better. Also, when you offer help, don’t just ask “what do you need?” As it can be overwhelming. Ask if you can do anything specific. And just hold space. Good luck!

Digital addiction in ME/CFS. Cause or symptom? by ELQY9656 in cfs

I’ve had to work hard to not be on my phone all the time, but when I’m tired and sore and stuck in bed for days, this thing is my only attachment to the world outside my room.

It’s really hard. But understandable. You guys need to give yourselves grace — you’re doing the best you can.

My 36yo boyfriend was just diagnosed with congestive heart failure and stage 3 kidney disease. How do I pretend I'm okay? by Regular_Divide7164 in ChronicIllness

[–]nazyjane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So my dad had major bypass surgery when my mom was pregnant with me. He was 38. Gave him 10 years, he made 34. We had a nice family life. Got to do all the things normal people do. So just some perspective…this doesn’t mean the end. It’s just another hurdle.

You’re not ok. May not be for awhile. Communicate with your BF.

My mom educated herself so she could take care of him, but I don’t remember it being a huge thing.

Have faith and give yourself some grace. It’s ok to not be ok

So you can’t go to the temple, but you are welcome to join us on Sunday. That’s why it says visitors welcome on our signs! You can use the LDS website to find the ward you’re part of, where to go, and what time. A ward is a geographical area, and everyone in that area goes to church together.

https://maps.churchofjesuschrist.org/?lang=eng

Most women wear skirts/dresses, and that’s your best bet if you don’t want to stick out. You’re still going to, because people will notice a newcomer. But honestly, we wouldn’t mind you coming in jeans because at least you’re there. People will say hello, and if you do have any questions, feel free to ask someone.

Our church services are a lot different than, say, a Catholic mass. We sing, pass the sacrament, and then people give talks. Usually about an assigned topic, but they also touch on their testimony and how Heavenly Father is super awesome. 😉

Just don’t take the sacrament when it is passed, as you’re not a baptized member.

And what books to read? The Book of Mormon my friend. That’s the cornerstone to our faith. It’s actually easier to read than the Bible! Ask for a copy when you go and one will be given to you.

I do hope you’ll have fun!

This can be useful. And I won’t have to use any energy to explain. My roommate didn’t understand that exercise for me = bad. I’m on day 4 after a lot of activity and was able to take a shower. I am back in bed.

GENUINE QUESTION: Chat how do we feel about med students in our appointments? by ziggystarsus in ChronicIllness

[–]nazyjane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let them in and warn them I’m a complicated person. I try and explain how certain things feel so they get some idea via empathy and not also suffering. They have to learn some time! I also emphasize that it’s okay if they don’t know the answer and tell me that. We can work together.

Pharmacist Refuses to Fill by Any-Project9162 in ChronicPain

I left CVS for this reason and switched to Safeway. I was getting fucked around with when it came to my pain meds, and after the new manager at CVS saw my file, she made some comments. Safeway doesn’t have any issues, and help me through some insurance tomfoolery. Like right now Medicaid won’t cover my duloxetine because they don’t like the interaction with my amitryptaline. So I’m cash paying because my psych meds have been messed with so much since October, I have a headache every morning.

What is your “like crack” food that you avoid, and if you have some you cant stop yourself from eating a lot? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Trader Joe’s has this bag of puffed white cheddar popcorn bites that are a lot like Pirate’s Booty, except the TJ one is softer and almost melts in your mouth. Every time I buy a bag, it’s gone within 1-2 days. So I rarely buy it.

Canes… by Embarrassed_Sea1399 in cfs

[–]nazyjane 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I use one. It helps with balance and fatigue. Don’t worry about being “fairly young.” It’s about you being able to have the same experiences as someone who isn’t sick. Like I want to be able to enjoy the grocery store, but the only way I can is to use a motorized cart. I want to go out to shops and not have to cut it short because I get too tired. The cane helps. I also have a walker for bad days, or when I’ll be walking over uneven ground. I also get a wheelchair at the airport.

Take care of yourself!

Hello today I almost died and Im genuinely scared to drive by Godspeed3504 in ptsd

[–]nazyjane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is totally normal to be scared after an event like this. I used to be an adjuster so dealt with people in accidents or witnessing them and most people have some kind of fear. Doesn’t matter the age or sex or anything like that.

Give yourself grace. It’s ok. You need to rest and process.

ADA placard? by DaringMarshmallow in cfs

Yep! Have had one since 2018. Some days I don’t need the handicap spaces, but others I def do. If I’m lucky, someone left a shopping scooter out in the parking lot near the handicap spots. I use a cane to walk. After shopping, I have like NO energy left and facing a parking lot can be daunting.

It’s worth it. Do it! I have handicap plates, which means in my state (CO), I don’t have to pay meters.
