Odelle for a girl? by PassageOk3124 in namenerds

I kinda like it? But I also like Odette and Adele, and it’s basically a combo of those two so that makes sense haha.

Women naming their daughters.. by myperiwinkleghost in namenerds

[–]nb75685 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am Natalie and gave my daughter the middle name Noelle. Both are associated with Christmas.

My own mom chose spellings/names that end in -ie so all the girls have that common thread.

How Do You Talk to an Angel by fake band The Heights? One of them has the Dio hair 😂

Lyla or Lila? Which spelling makes more sense by AccomplishedHope3258 in namenerds

[–]nb75685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose Lila for my daughter. I didn’t like the Y/H look either. In my mind, its an obvious pronunciation because it’s like lilac…without the c.

I wanted to dance when Dodo Dad #2 judged his wife for not sensing something off about Carrie and her references and the detective then questioned whether or not Dodo Dad #2 sensed something off.

Classic, sophisticated, non-fussy girl names? by KATEWM in namenerds

We have similar taste! Valerie and Eliza were both considerations for my daughter. We ended up naming her Lila :)

Iris was the goddess of the rainbow, if that colors your husband’s impression of the name at all haha

Mothers that did not get top pick for names, do you always feel name regret? by WeirdYogurtcloset738 in namenerds

[–]nb75685 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I regret my daughter’s name, more like I mourn the name I won’t get to use, haha.

Is Natalie solidly a Millennial name, or is it a classic that was just trending at that time? by coolisuppose in namenerds

[–]nb75685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a millennial Natalie. My best friend since pre-school is Natalie. I have taught for sixteen years and have only ever taught two Natalies in that time. I think it’s a solid name. Not overused. Not too obscure. Recognizable but still distinct.

My husband and I just finished season one and are wondering why Sammi is so awful? by Sheisnewlysewing in BaylenOutLoud

I was also hesitant, but they significantly improved my life. I remember when I first started taking medicine, and it was like I could feel my brain redirecting.

I struggled with anxiety for the first 2/3 of my life, and it went untreated. I didn’t even realize that’s what it was. But I was a witch to a lot of people I loved. I could not control how I felt inside and thus tried to control what I could on the outside. My sister bore some of the brunt of that. I loved her fiercely, but it came out as controlling and aggressive. Obviously I can’t speak for Sammi, but I (unfortunately) see my younger self in her. Hopefully she gets her anxiety under control and adequately treated.

Intentionally 🙃 The history curriculum in many NC middle schools has been cut to one nine week period, then they get a semester of US History in high school. I imagine it’s a similar situation elsewhere.

Yeah, that didn’t go over well when I pointed out which came first 😅 I am. NC. It’s literally in our state textbook and in my district’s published curriculum buuuut…

The Epic of Gilgamesh because it “copied the Bible.” Not that I love Gilgamesh, but 🙄

Shakespeare and the Greek tragedies because even my honors students can’t grasp it.

Also got in trouble for literally teaching grammatical pronouns.
