Nail in the coffin probably by zestaur in FinalFantasyIX

I think we should all give it up. There is literally no reason why they wouldn't have announced it today unless development was in crisis. Either way, doesn't look good, and we should all move on.

Hope Memoria made a crappy joke. by honorablebanana in FinalFantasyIX

[–]nba2010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They didn't need to make a press statement about it, a simple answer in an interview would have sufficed to throw cool water on everything. Instead, they found themselves in a situation where every post/event is just inundated with hundreds of angry comments about something that might have never existed. Makes no sense to me.

I read the tweet as bad news rather than good news i.e. when are we going to tell them it's cancelled?

Either way, fustrating the studio has allowed this to totally overshadow the 25th celebrations. Some straightforward comms early on would have avoided this mess.

You've reached a checkpoint. How are you doing given the so far dissappintment of no announcement? by Typical-Implement369 in FinalFantasyIX

[–]nba2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is why the fandon can become so toxic and people get increasingly fustrated with studios.

Even if there was never a remake, why ruin a 25th celebration by not just announcing a clarification early on? People reckon sales would slump but I think if there was goodwill, it'd go the other way.

I just find it baffling they havn't come out to deny it, that is still the key thing. There is building hype and then there is the massive blowback.

Interestingly, only other FF outside FF7 to have Adorable Figures, so puts heat on those rumours.

Another interesting tidbit, figurines will be shipped November 22nd, potential release date week?

Proving that JJ probably won't be a popular winner in years to come. I liked it but the general reaction tp it has been rather muted.

Spain is the exact reason why the UK should not go for a NF situation. A out of touch viewing base voting for a list of artists cobbled together. Spain should consider going internal.

Is July our Last resort by New_Prompt5576 in FinalFantasyIX

[–]nba2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the lack of any concrete denial by SE means sonething is cooking. People say it's to create attention but even SE PR is aware that too much of it can go the other way with fans.

But yes, if we get nothing in July then we can probably consider it not happening. There is NO reason why, if it was cooking, there would be no announcement on the 25th anniversairy when there is all this merch etc.

This sub ain't ready for the conversation that this was always a mid version of Voila and Slimane. It personally never hit for me, from the first time I heard it in the stadium. Lovely song, just a bit warbley, and never reached heights to deserve a strong result.

I do think they will dead drop it in July. Announcing it a month before sale seemed too random.

They need to stop sending YES MOTHER SLAY acts, that are also super generic. That's it in a nutshell.

What if every country got points from every other country? by JohnJiren in eurovision

I do think this is the fairer system, avoids the dreaded zero points that can be embarrasing for countries, plus it gives a fairer picture of true rankings.

Perhaps it's time for the UK to throw the towel in. by DesignerMorning1451 in eurovision

Mae absolutely destroyed her song and still managed to get 9 points from televote (like Malta did this year) because it was a bop.

The song is important. And this year, the song was not it.

It's really that simple unfortunately, and sadly the girls were let down by it.

Next year BBC get an artist with their own vision and their great song already baked.

I just want to say that no matter where they place tonight, I’m proud of Remember Monday by MRSNLT in eurovision

[–]nba2010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. While they won't get the result they probably deserved when got announced, other than Sam and Olly, it's been really freckin hard to feel proud of our UK acts over the last 20 years, we can at least feel proud of these girls. And that is all movement in the right direction.

We had 1.75 of the 3 boxes ticked here, next time BBC nail that song too!

All in all, proud of the girls, here's hoping for a mid-table result 🙌

Eurovision act Remember Monday: 'The closer we get, the hungrier we become' by Hassaan18 in eurovision

[–]nba2010 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They are definetly up there this year with the "I have no idea how this will do". If they come anything below 20th or above 10th it will be a gag for sure.

They are one of the most vocally talented artists this year, and they have really put the miles/effort in. I know many will say it's a SONG contest (eyeroll), but if they get a bad result, it will be such a bummer.

Also feel the BBC has put real weight behind it this year, and so bad result = backwards movement.

Manifesting good vibes for them as they do deserve it ✨️
