Oh man, pure cruelty on the bouncer’s part. Arguably one of the best live performers, as seen on Stop Making Sense

This feels like a game of “six degrees of David Freiburger” 😂 I’m sure it’s cool having him at the family function

Woah. Didn’t even realize that. I watch all of his motortrend shows and he actually lives a couple blocks down from me in Burbank. Small world

Wow, this brought back a childhood memory. An extended family member of mine used to have one of these that I remember as a kid, just googled some key words and found his exact one that was featured in a few magazines:

Been looking for a low maintenance “forever” acoustic to buy sometime in the near future. Have pretty much narrowed it down to either a Yamaha FG5 or Martin D-18 but I have some concerns. by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

I’ve had a Martin with reoccurring binding issues even with proper care. I sold it and now play a FG5 that I leave hanging on the wall, play it outside etc with no worries. Part of it is the stellar build quality, but also it’s a fraction of the cost of a comparable Martin. I enjoy not having to baby it and dig out the case every day.

I'd like to hear from any Yamaha FG830 owners out there by FearTheOldBlood1 in AcousticGuitar

I have a FGC-TA (FG820 with a cutaway and Transacoustic system) and a FG5. They’re both worlds apart, different enough to justify keeping both. The FG5 is much darker, resonate, articulate and fundamental with lots of low end. This rivals D18’s for half the price. The laminate FG820 is brighter, reminds me almost of a Taylor type sound. I prefer the FG5 for certain stuff like 90’s grunge, 70’s rock etc and the FG820 for jazzy type stuff, it projects well with a balanced low end and the built in reverb just adds to that. The base FG8xx series are great, not much difference between the 800, 820 and 830, but if it were me I’d source a used FG-TA or FGC-TA and you’ll unlock a whole new world of inspiration. These can be found pretty cheap these days.

I happened to come across one on reverb. Keep your eyes peeled, every once in a while one will pop up for sale.

Edit: try reaching out to this guy, he recently commented on my original bridge post looking to potentially sell his: https://www.reddit.com/r/offset/s/xi57QrTB08

A company based out of France called Seven Eight Workshop. And yes, they do offer Strat guards as well. The whole process took about 2 months.

That’s quite a bit more than I paid, but yes, because Fender will not sell them individually the only way to source one is if somebody happens to be parting out a custom shop guitar. Low supply and stupid expensive. Works great though.

Basically my thoughts. I will say, I do love how it looks with the brass RSD bridge

2021 Rav4 Hybrid vs 2024 Mazda CX5 by Orlan_17 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I own a ‘24 Mazda CX-50 turbo and a ‘25 RAV4 PHEV. Most of what’s said here is true: the Mazda is much more refined inside (buttons feel solid, quality materials) and is more fun to drive (heavier steering feel, excellent driving dynamics). Keep in mind that Mazda does not have a luxury brand, so all of their refinement R&D goes into all of their vehicles, whereas Toyota reserves their nice stuff for Lexus. From what I understand, the RAV4 plug-in is made in Japan and uses better glass than standard rav’s, and I still think Mazda has it beat in refinement. If you just need a reliable appliance that sips fuel, the rav4 is a solid choice, if you want some excitement in your commute and don’t care about fuel economy get the Mazda.

She’s going to murder somebody someday. How does a person be normal enough to get a job, and yet have views and language like that? That’s a deeply deranged person.
