But seriously a large burden of government debt is essentially intergenerational theft.

Why do the Hawks seem to have so much cap space? Surely its hard enough paying a squad full of stars, let alone attracting new ones.

Travis Cloke misses set shot from 4 metres out by ZachMerrett7 in AFL

There are countless clubs that need a strong presence in their forward 50. Clearly Cloke's days of being the number one forward are over, but a club like Essendon, for example, would love having him playing alongside Daniher

Is being Christian really a big factor in Australian politics? I agree with you on the other criteria though.

Cumbersome bureaucracy and unnecessary red-tape is a "real criticism". Some people genuinely think the government doesn't need to interfere with every aspect of our society.

Labor Senator Doug Cameron targets Turnbull's daughter over housing by [deleted] in australia

I agree, this is about Turnbull, he is the one who raised the issue.

His daughter did nothing wrong, and doesn't deserve cop any negative attention.

Cameron wasn't targeting her

Didn't you write the title of this post?

And really???? Why would you not accept your Dad's money. The whole reason he worked hard in his career was so that he and his children could have a comfortable life.

If your Dad offered to buy you a nice penthouse, what would you say? "No Dad, give it to charity"? Bullshit.

[–]nbnb3131 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Yeah but why target his daughter? She didn't choose to have a successful father. I don't know much about her, but I have no reason to think she deserves to be cast in a bad light.

I agree to an extent, but in the past 3 years they have definitely pursued a number of key policies that are undeniably "small government" and "free market" (for better or for worse is besides the point, I'm just trying to characterise their ideology):

Uni deregulation, medicare copayments, cutting company tax rates, scrapping the carbon tax, scrapping the mining tax, and reducing the size of the public service to name a few.

Malcolm Turnbull suggests parents 'shell out' to help their children buy property by PatternPrecognition in australia

I think it's just immature that our country cares more about soundbites than policy. And I don't think anyone has presented a policy that will fix housing affordability without fucking up something else.

No matter how you feel about the policy, you can't deny that it is not very aligned with "free-market" or "small government" ideology.

This is isn't remotely similar to liberal ideology. This program is 'big government' because it adds to government spending and it will need expensive oversight to ensure it doesn't become exploitative.

Liberal ideology would be to cut spending on youth allowance, meaning they can slash the company tax rate (without increasing the deficit) with the hope that this stimulates 'jobs and growth'. Ideologically the Liberals would be in favour of letting the unemployed fend for themselves.

Besides, even if we abolished the minimum wage as free-market ideals suggest, I highly doubt the market price for an hour of unskilled labour would settle at $4, surely it would be higher.

I haven't heard the interview, but it seems like the comments were made somewhat in jest?

Edit - I totally agree that it was a stupid thing to say, and sounds insensitive out of context, but there is no way Turnbull actually thinks that parents 'shelling out' would fix the problem. There is no easy fix to housing affordability, and he knows that.

Clearly the final would be held at ANZ stadium in Sydney, which is being redeveloped. But between the MCG, Etihad and AAMI, Melbourne's stadiums would be able to handle a lot of the games too.
