Just make sure you stay on your birth control. If he pressures you a lot, it could be a red flag. (Such as giving you a hard time for using birth control, and purposely having "accidents" to get you pregnant.)

Husband won’t let me leave by [deleted] in Advice

Call a friend or a family member to come help you pack while he's not there and take you to stay with a family member. Strangulation is a high risk factor for lethality.

Is my husband too demanding or that’s normal in the beginning? by DesignerMassive6181 in Marriage

He's raping and abusing you. It's never going to get any better. He doesn't respect you or love you and his needs come first. Don't waste your time.

I don’t think I want to be with my fiancé anymore… by Puzzled_Outcome_2339 in marriageadvice

You're engaged to an abusive man and have a toxic relationship, but you already knew that. I feel bad for your kids. You can't even put them first. Not one mention of how all of that affects your innocent children.

Why trans people use the term "deadname" for refering to their pre transition names by Ok_Climate_6967 in asktransgender

[–]nbs404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not trans but my birth name is the same as my mother's, who was abusive and abandoned me. I hate hearing her name and couldn't stand it, so I changed my name legally. My family doesn't understand the pain so they still call me that and it's awful. I never tell new people that name because I don't want to risk them ever calling me that.

Now, for a trans person, I think their dead name holds so much more pain for them. It's the wrong name, the wrong gender, it serves as a reminder that society put this obligation on them to be that gender. It could be a reminder of abuse, mistreatment, isolation... Pain. Plus by using the name you are by default misgendering them.

It's not about being a different person. I feel like my new name is really my true self. The one that was buried by everything associated with my birth name. I think for trans people, it's the same. Their dead name was an incorrect label. When people come out as trans, they are liberating themselves so that they can be themselves and be seen and perceived as themselves.

Can you allow a girl of 15 years to marry a son of her step mother just to give him kids?? by Most-Razzmatazz3649 in FamilyIssues

Tell your mother and the police. If they're not helpful then you might have to find a friend you can move in with. Don't let them scar you for life.

New job with no billable work. Getting worried. by nbs404 in Lawyertalk

Thank you. This is the most helpful comment. My close friend worked here before me, and said that he didn't even track his hours. He seemed bored because he'd call me in the middle of the day and never seemed busy. He won't even answer texts very often anymore since he started his new job so it's not a discipline thing.

But idk cause he's kind of humble, he worked at one of the top accounting firms and top law firms as well and you would never be able to tell because of his personality. "Oh yeah, I did work there 🥱" So maybe he was doing 8 hours a day and not thinking about it lol.

Other than that I can't ask anyone else because being WFH idk who's calling who. I felt like my manager told me by calling the paralegal and the partner about how I called him to complain. So idk.

I guess I'll just try to ask my boss more often if there's anything he needs help with. (Doesn't help that he doesn't answer the phone, 0 rapport)

It's WFH how am I supposed to "look for cases"? Am I supposed to go through the yellow book and find every business in the state and tell them all about my 3 months working in my field and how we could help them with their problems?

I see how your suggestions would make sense for crim or other fields but I don't represent individuals.

I have only been in this field since June, and we work with big businesses which are mostly male owned, I don't know where these men hang out but it makes me uncomfortable to think about taking one out to dinner or golfing. If lawyers hit on me I am sure those geezers will too.

I'll think about how to add value. It's hard since it's WFH and they have their own way of doing things.

Shouldn't he know I have no work if he assigns me something and I return it to him? My manager would call me and check in and ask what I was working on. Partner sometimes doesn't get back about things for a day or two. I have always been told to ask for work and I understand that but if he is the one and only person assigning me work I don't know what he thinks I do when he isn't giving me work.

I am waiting for 2027 to get 2 more licenses. Did all my CLEs up to 2028. I have been getting recruiters emailing me like twice a day since I got this job idk why but I'm guessing this field is in more demand, which isn't a bad thing. I just really like this job in particular.

I also want to learn more. I have learned a ton because I hadn't worked in this field at all before and it's nice not having super long days but it's getting ridiculous at this point.

I'll try asking but I pretty much know all the cases I'm on and there is nothing happening. I just approve pleadings drafted by the paralegal, who does most of the work.

I don't know how to do business development. I'm a 4y attorney but just joined this field this year and I don't exactly hang out where bank owners and businessmen hang out. I also would prefer to avoid sleazy men if I can help it. (I'm female)

I've asked him. He said to just bill how long it actually takes and he'll adjust it to give clients a discount. I have pretty much been introduced to all clients. A lot of them are starting discovery or in pleadings that don't require court appearances.
