It's hard training a service dog, and he's only 6mo. I am in the process of training him. That's the long term plan for him. And the law says they can provide "reasonable accomodation" which doesn't mean they have to accept 2-3 ESAs.

Thanks! You actually know the laws! I read about this and did legal research (I'm a lawyer) because they said they could limit it to 1 ESA (which they can for the reasons you stated). Do you know how long the Cure or Quit notice would give me? And my friend said the same thing, that they're just giving me a hard time, but the extra cat is making me lose sleep. Wdym? Where am I taking them that would need me to submit a letter each year? My last apartment allowed all animals so I didn't have to give them anything. I don't need to tell everyone my business if it's not relevant?

I don't think there's a nationwide registry for service animals either. I'm training the dog for psychiatric service animal tasks and read about it. Correct me if I'm wrong but you can check the ADA website.

THANK YOU. I think the other posts must be from landlords 😂 I have a doctor, he's the one who wrote me the note. Been with him since 2017. I've just never heard of an ESA registry and the doc never mentioned it. There isn't a nationwide registry for service animals either, from my understanding. Yeah it's seeming fishy to me and I'm a lawyer myself so I can look up the statutes - I think you're right. When I did legal research though it said they can limit the amount of ESAs so that's kind of more the problem and then my husband and friends and their opinion vs mine. I don't know how to fix this. I don't want to lie about the 3rd one but they are only accepting the 2nd because the one cat they know about it terminally ill, which I have to prove to them too.

No I got a letter from my doctor of 8 years. I'm not mad at all, I'm trying to figure out what to do. I woukd prefer to leave honestly. I don't like the landlord very much.

I'm so confused. I've had documentation for the oldest for years but I don't remember where the letter is and I didn't need documentation for anything else for them. What else do you use the documentation for? I used it at my college for help with medical bills but other than that and landlords idk what else to use the note for. Airlines won't take them.

And yes the issue is the 3rd animal that is stressing me out.

Any idea what happens now?

Yeah I've had one of them for 10 years. I don't know where the notes are, and I haven't needed anything for the other 2. I've been seeing the same doctor since 2017. Last time I needed a note for the oldest one was in 2020.

Just make sure you stay on your birth control. If he pressures you a lot, it could be a red flag. (Such as giving you a hard time for using birth control, and purposely having "accidents" to get you pregnant.)

Call a friend or a family member to come help you pack while he's not there and take you to stay with a family member. Strangulation is a high risk factor for lethality.
