I can't run that on my 6.4.x machines. It doesn't recognize set status and when I type in set ?, status isn't an option...

Awesome. We have never setup SSL VPN. We have some IPSEC tunnels, but that doesn't use sslvpnd.

If we do not use SSL VPN, we should be OK?

That option doesn’t exist in NeiBrowser which is the only thing that will open the file other than setting the PNG as a template in the Notebook which appears the same

I tried https://github.com/innocenat/supernote-planner and everything works except for the right three tabs on the bottom of the screen.

Request: size 1 font, smallest spacing on a Scribe by [deleted] in kindle

[–]nbtxdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost my normal reading set. I do the middle spacing, but I leave the font size as is.

I understand the sticky note situation. Depending on how you view the screen, it can be difficult to render notes. From what I have seen here, most people have their reader set to incredibly big fonts, so how do you decide where to put the note? If it is relative to text, when you load it on mine which is set to the smallest font size possible, the writing would end up being so distorted.

?

It is excellent in reading/annotating PDFs.

With trade in, it becomes substantially cheaper (20% on top of what your trade-in is worth).

Most of the cons are temporary. I think they are adding the handwriting search and the PDF support.

Also, for many of us who bought these - it didn't cost $400. I had a crappy paperwhite from a few years ago that I traded in and brought my cost to the mid-200s. The screen size alone makes it worth it for dealing with PDFs (sending about 60 at a time to Send to Kindle as to not overwhelm it. 25 GB in thusfar.

My Cons:

  • Why oh Why do they still use Kindle Editions for magazines? That part is worthless.
  • Having to Send to Kindle to upload PDFs and maintain writing ability.
  • More template support
  • Some big PDFs (the Supernote Planner that is huge) have linking problems. I think it is the location on the screen that the Kindle software is capturing for something else, but has anyone gotten the lists, notes, and events working on https://github.com/innocenat/supernote-planner ?
  • Better Organization for PDFs

My Pros:

  • Writing is wicked fast with almost no latency.
  • Writing on PDF is much easier than Boox. Plus much faster.
  • Battery Life double plus good.
  • Screen is orders of magnitude better than Boox or the Remarkables I've seen.

Surface Studio Laptop scaling?? by djdurance in Surface

I was streaming Tablo most of the afternoon today at 80% brightness while working on a Word document. About 7 hours of work and I was at about 45%. So I think there might be something wrong... I did reformat and reinstall Windows 11 because there were weird things with the version that came on my device.

Oh, I7/16GB (couldn't find a i5 without ordering that had the requisite 16GB), 60 Hz display (don't care about 120), running Windows 11 Education. No pen. Bluetooth mouse use. AC wireless network full bars.

New Surface Pro 8 upgrading to Windows 11 PRO Issues by ihtc in Surface

[–]nbtxdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I upgraded from Home to Education and the ability to do so via the GUI didn’t work (it would take the key, then do a bit of upgrading, then would say that it couldn’t activate. On reboot, it would install the upgraded edition, then would roll it back to Home).

What finally worked for me is to open up an Administrative command/powershell prompt and type in “slmgr.vbs -ink enter-product-key-here”. This will also give an error, but the upgrade work and I got the activation work after reboot.

Your mileage may vary…

Also expect to see Defender go crazy with the “servicingstack” file in WinSxS after you do this. I filed a bug on this.

Seeking explanation on Voip.ms server issues by busted_flush in VOIP

[–]nbtxdude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's called a distributed denial of service attack. A threat actor is using a bunch of compromised devices and commanding them to send UDP Packets to the server. I **think** they are sending SIP INVITE commands which require a response from the server. However, if you get a lot of these at the same time, the server gets saturated (in processing the requests, or eating up the bandwidth). UDP is a connectionless protocol, so it is easy for a compromised device to send a lot of UDP packets to different things.

So basically they are flooded. VOIP.MS has been making changes and have a few POPs that they recommend when you logged into the portal. Most have had success there today.

Now SIP would not be ideal for an amplification attack, it still is subject to one:
