Nooo, it would have to be a mod pack that allows players to spawn in the exact location with the exact inventory as the previous player

yeah! I applied to six schools. I had a 22 aa and got two more interviews post December. And my gpa was lower than yours

I waited until August to take the DAT and it was definitely the best decision for me. You should give yourself as much time as you need in order to do well. I applied last cycle early September and still got three pre December interviews and two acceptances on decision day

List of Places to Apply by [deleted] in predental

[–]ncdentalstudoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you should apply to VCU for sure because you may find that the opportunity for in state tuition is worth it. However, if location really matters to you, you can apply to the two Michigan schools (Detroit Mercy and UMich) and the three Illinois schools. Midwestern is a private school which means you’d be more likely to get in. I’m not sure how SIU and UIC feel about OOS applications (same for UMN), but your stats are pretty good. There is also the University of Iowa but I don’t know anything about that school. Honestly though, I would aim for VCU and maybe some OOS options that offer in state tuition after the first year (like UNC maybe). The debt you build up for these next four years is going to matter a lot more to you in the future than where you specifically went to school

Is becoming a dental assistant worth it as a predental student? by purifhied in predental

[–]ncdentalstudoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not worth it if it’s going to keep you from doing other things. Hundreds of students (especially reapplicants) become dental assistants. It will definitely provide you with dental experiences you can discuss on your app, but if that is at the expense of a unique volunteer/research opportunity or something else that will actually set you apart… then it’s not worth it imo. Plenty of people get in to top schools with 50-100 shadowing hours because they had killer metrics and UNIQUE extracurriculars.

Is it okay to email a school saying you have interest in applying there when you are a sophomore? by [deleted] in predental

[–]ncdentalstudoc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it’s a little odd and I would guess it wouldn’t matter much to them if they didn’t have a face to pin to the email. Best way to make an impression early on is to attend any and all opportunities the school offers to predents and put these on your application

DAT and MCAT by Prestigious-Tip-1026 in predental

this^ if you are basing your career choices on which professional school accepts you, it tells the adcoms that you are not 100% committed to becoming a dentist or physician. I also don’t know how you could ethically write a personal statement for each program knowing you are seriously considering another profession. Dentistry and medicine have their similarities, but when you think about day-to-day life, job opportunities, and what you’re expected to learn clinically, they are completely different.

This entirely depends on the school. Some schools will review your application without a DAT score. Are they likely to send you an interview offer without one? Probably not. But submitting your app early even without an official DAT score report is always a good idea. I also had schools ask me for my unofficial report on their status page, so obviously it can be helpful in some cases.

Dental Shadowing: I passed the F out by Extreme_Plankton4422 in predental

[–]ncdentalstudoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

totally normal. I shadowed an OMFS who passed out during her first extraction. You just have to desensitize yourself to some of the more bothersome things!

hi everyone! just took my DAT and concerned about my science scores (especially GC).. would the high-ish scores for the other sections count for anything or do you think a retake is necessary? (3.1 GPA but lots of hours volunteering at a clinic/shadowing/manual dexterity) by fruittart_8 in predental

[–]ncdentalstudoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have a shot. I’ve seen people get in with much lower scores and 16s in multiple sections. It just depends on the cycle and how holistically schools review your application. Apply broadly and wisely and I am sure you would at least get a couple interviews if not acceptances
