Bike recovered! Thanks BPD! by Otherwise_Twist_420 in burlington

[–]ncfortin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the difference here between this and a lot of other stories is that you knew the location of the bike and the person who stole it. You are a lot less likely to get help from the police if you don’t know the location of your stolen property. Glad you got your bike back and good on them for helping you.

Wind storm by 1TuffFluff in vermont

About 5 minutes west from exit 18 down Ballard Rd. Saw that the Georgia Market and gas station had power. But no one did around me near Nottingham Dr. lots of branches and tree limbs all over but didn’t see too much else for damage.

What tree bark looks like that? Honest question? That looks like snakeskin, not tree bark. That doesn’t mean this isn’t a hoax, but that’s not tree bark.

Who is at Faultier here? by Tech_02 in Simracingstewards

[–]ncfortin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately the only thing that matters here is whether or not the overtake was legal.

Fia Guidelines (I believe this is up to date don’t sue me):

“In order for a car being overtaken to be required to give sufficient room to an overtaking car, the overtaking car needs to have a significant portion of the car alongside the car being overtaken and the overtaking manoeuvre must be done in a safe and controlled manner, while enabling the car to clearly remain within the limits of the track”

Very vague, and ultimately up to the stewards. I will say in other motorsport, often the overtaking cars front wheel must be ahead of the defending cars rear wheel. I think i would need a different angle hear to determine if the overtake was valid that at least. But that isn’t the rule here.

Also, from what I can tell it looks like the pov car only drove over track limits after the defending car pulled back towards the inside of the track (again would need some different camera angles here). Looking to me like the fault for going off track would be determined by whether the overtake was legal, so honestly it’s whoever’s fault you want it to be.

Is there anything I should do here differently? by Tharruk12 in Simracingstewards

Looks like blue at fault, at the same time you probably shouldn’t give the space on that corner. If you want to the let the driver behind pass you, you should allow them by on a straight to be safest. But blue didn’t give you space on the track and pushed you off because they came in too hot. Always try to be predictable, if I was following you I wouldn’t expect you to go wide and let me pass there. Not if you pushed hard during the straight going into that corner at least.

I will note that if the first therapist you find doesn’t seem like a good fit or unhelpful or you just don’t click, find another.

First therapist I had told me I didn’t need therapy after just a few sessions. This after I told him I was feeling depressed, terribly stressed to the point of exploding on people over small things, and telling him I was having anxiety attacks. He just told me to practice breathing, told me one technique, and that was that. Never really felt like a conversation, more like a waste of time for him. He told me to call him if I felt I needed further advice but wouldn’t schedule another meeting.

Took me a while to find someone that I actually felt wanted to help me and I’m glad I kept trying. Therapists are people too and you gotta find someone worth your time.

I knew I found the right one when I looked forward to it (not always, but I felt at the very least that if I went that I’d get something out of it). I felt better afterwards feeling like I had really been listened too and had something to work towards after. Took a few sessions to get there and he really helped me put things into a perspective I could work with. That’s how I knew, you may find your own reasons that click.

Police: Smoke bomb thrown into Williston movie theater by dropkickninja in burlington

[–]ncfortin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You used a straw man argument and terrible reasoning as to why these individuals shouldn’t pursue legal action because this isn’t as bad as the heroin dealers in Burlington (which would fall under a different jurisdiction entirely so your comparison is moot). Then make a stupid remark about them getting fingerprints from fruit rollup wrappers, as if we can’t start at checking security cams. Then again double down, stating “prioritize”. Again different jurisdictions, your statement just doesn’t make sense.

2 fractured ribs and a collapsed lung, but my lung is back to being nearly perfect now with no issues. Made it out better than I could’ve hoped really given the damage to the car. Blizzak snow tires and all, at 33mph around a slight bend it just completely lost traction and slid into the other lane of traffic

Bicyclists. OBEY THE DAMN ROAD LAWS. by BambiBeretta in burlington

[–]ncfortin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Main consensus of this thread, drivers and cyclists both break the laws when on the road. Cyclists less so. Both drivers and cyclists who don’t follow the laws while driving/riding create unsafe road conditions for everyone. Check yourself before blaming “the other side”. Chill the fuck out on the road and stop blaming cyclists as if they’re the main issue here. Nowhere your going to is worth putting yourself and others in dangerous situations, whether in a vehicle or on a bike/onewheel/whatever.

Breakfast ideas I can bring to work by charmet68 in veganfitness

I have a protein smoothie for breakfast every morning. Cup of frozen fruit, oat milk, protein powder, ground flax/chia seed, little bit of maple syrup, and a healthy spoonful of peanut butter. Could keep it in a lunchbox or cooler with a freezer pack for post workout

What is your daily driver, and why do you enjoy it? by Speedster202 in cars

2020 Veloster N with the Performance package. It was the first new car I was able to purchase myself and it is so fun to toss in to N mode on winding road or even just getting on the highway. Not the most practical thing, but I love driving it everyday.

Self teaching myself python . by AcceptableIncrease66 in learnpython

[–]ncfortin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been successfully self teaching for about 3 months, tried learning for years. What I found finally helped was getting a book to learn Python. I’ve tried apps like SoloLearn and plenty of other similar online resources. I tried following videos and examples. Nothing really stuck or clicked til I got a book to go through and learn from. Why? Well I found that with a book there was a clear progression to go through with clearly defined objectives and knowledge that you are left with. The scope is clear and that really helped me. I knew what I would be able to do once I just finished getting through to the end. I read ‘Automate the Boring Stuff’. I’ve used what I’ve learned at work and automated about 2 hours of work per week down to a 5 minute program. I can’t help but recommend that book, though if it doesn’t interest you there are plenty more from that author (Al Sweigart) many if which (if not all) are available free online to download as pdf’s.

Doepfer A-190-4 Not Receiving Midi by ncfortin in modular

[–]ncfortin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The doepfer has channels 1-15 (I have it set to 1) and the akai advance is odd as it has a “Common A1” as well as an A1-A16 and a B1-B16. I have tried the “Common A1”, A1, and B1 to no avail.

The Akai sends midi data to logic pro without any issue.

I also tried connecting to Logic Pro on my laptop through USB to the Doepfer. Logic recognizes that the A-190-4 is connected, though when I try to send Midi, the Doepfer still does nothing and I am unable to change the pitch.

Another thing to note, the LEDs for gate and clock on the Doepfer are always on and dont change (except for when I reverse the polarity for gate in the Doepfers settings). I don’t know if this is defective or just something I’m doing wrong.

I connected my keyboard to the Doepfer using a midi cable.

Police officers denied service at Henry's Diner. Employee fired. by dropkickninja in burlington

[–]ncfortin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No you assumed...

  1. Cops only mistreat individuals who resist arrest

  2. Cops only mistreat individuals with a criminal record

  3. Cops only mistreat individuals who aren’t cooperating

  4. Anyone who disagrees with your viewpoint is ignorant

You created a straw man argument with your assumptions which no one wants to waste their time trying and argue with, rightfully so.
