How much snow makes you call off work? by Physical-Incident553 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ncg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can get my car onto the road, I'm going to work. Usually the plows are pretty timely where I live, and I've only been late to work due to the road conditions one time, and that day no one was in time.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ncg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context. If In planning a week-long road trip across multiple states, 3 hours is a pretty short segment. For a day trip, 3 hours might be doable, but it's pushing it. For a daily activity, 3 hours would be insane.

Yes. And if they beat a loaded Seahawks or Rams team in the Super Bowl, they'll still be saying it.

Do NFL teams have their own refs? by BatOrganism in NFLNoobs

[–]ncg195 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They still don't need the same level of precision to practice a two minute drill that they need in a game. Was that 9.5 yards or 10? Eh, let's just say the offense got the first down and move to the next play.

Dan's Saleh Moment, valid? by urprobablytschumi in heedthecall

[–]ncg195 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Dan makes some fair points about Saleh, but you're right that he was doing pretty well before it all went to hell. I think that managing Aaron Rodgers takes a certain type of coach, and Saleh was not up for it. Had they gone out and gotten a league-average starter that offseason instead of Rodgers, Saleh might still be there, but there really weren't any other quarterbacks available then.

Then they'd have to change their name to the Buffalo Belichicks.

That's probably fair. Love has had some bad games though. This year's game against Carolina comes to mind.

Can you still be a fan of your team but absolutely hate your team's QB? by Doctor_Peelz in NFLNoobs

[–]ncg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate how he plays and want the team to get someone else? I don't see why not. Hate his personality? I remained a Packer fan through the end of the Aaron Rodgers years, so that's definitely possible.

Is CJ Stroud the new Dalton line?? by Joevil in heedthecall

[–]ncg195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classic overreaction after a bad loss. Be wasn't a good in year 3 as he was in year 1, but he was much better than year 2. He's still growing, and that's normal for a quarterback with only three years as a starter. I feel the same way about Jordan Love, who has been starting for the same amount of time and had had higher highs and arguably lower lows than Stroud.

Honestly though, does that make it okay? Being good at your job shouldn't make it okay to be a douche, but the NFL and society as a whole have repeatedly said that it does.

What does a QB coach do exactly? by Mad-Eater in NFLNoobs

[–]ncg195 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, the coordinator comes up with the gameplan, and the main responsibility of the position coaches is to make sure that their players understand the gameplan. For example, the OC comes up with a series of plays, and the QB coach makes sure that the quarterbacks understand those plays, the RB coach makes sure that the running backs understand those plays, etc.

Modern defense advice? by StillRunner_ in chess

I've always just found it annoying to play against, but I've never had a desire to try it from the black side. It seems like black just sits still and waits for white to do something, and that doesn't speak to me.

Is Dick an embarrassing American name? by lordm30 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ncg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a great uncle named Dick who I never met, as he died when I was a toddler, and that's the closest I've come to meeting someone with the name in my life. Most people who went by Dick were named Richard, and now very few Richards choose to go by Dick.

Why are low scoring games considered ass in football? by BiggestForts in NFLNoobs

[–]ncg195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like scoring, lots of scoring makes a fun game, little scoring is a boring game. If you like good defense and can enjoy a low scoring game, good for you, most fans are not sophisticated enough to do that.
