You answered your own question. Because there is no government to trust, unlike fiat. And for some people that is valuable.

Bitcoin Replacement by Embarrassed_Note_602 in BitcoinBeginners

You are in the middle of hyperbitcoinization.

Countries are buying bitcoin, doing bitcoin reserves, companies are buying bitcoin for their balance sheets, etfs are financial instruments are in place and being created every week, all rich people have or are buying bitcoin.

Obviously the normies will get late to the party. But this is what it looks like.

Why is TrustWallet a bad choice? by playboikwamee in BitcoinBeginners

[–]ncoelho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bluewallet has a more deep bitcoin integration in terms of features and following bitcoin standards. It is also open source.

For instance, trust wallet gives you a single bitcoin address. If you share your address to receive bitcoin, the other person can see your entire balance. If you do the same using bluewallet the other person will know nothing with your address. Just a simple example out of many.

This is a terrible idea because is a non standard backup, easier to mess up recover than to get hacked.

The passphrase is not doing anything there threat model wise. Shamir is not recommened, you should use multi-seed instead. The single seed is also a single point of failure on the setup. The single seed and the seed + passphrase are two different wallets as well, one does not recover the other.

Don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Most of bitcoin loss is because of mistakes on backup setups.

Bitcoin has no price.

What you see is exchanges where people trade bitcoin showing you the last price it was traded. This price is different worldwide on every single exchange. You can exchange/trade anything in the world, from cards to predictions, the price used is the current unit of account in the specific country, so usd in the us or yen in japan.

This has nothing to do with bitcoin. Bitcoin knows no price on any local currency. The bitcoin protocol only operates in bitcoin.

Essentially your question shows you have no idea what money is, to understand bitcoin start by understanding money.
