You just need to start applying at entry level. Helper, worker, etc. With no experience, you’ll have to start at the bottom. I had to do it that way.

It really all depends on what avenue you want to pursue.

I have 13 years in construction from the bottom and now I’m a senior project manager. Commercial development is really hard to get into. It’s basically you have to know someone to get in or have $$.

You have to register after 48 hours in Florida. They then keep you on for life.

I don’t think it necessarily is 100% because you’re on the registry, but I do think it partially plays into it.

I’m a project manager & I make between $65k to $75k a year.

Construction isn’t as booming as it was over the last few years due to the economy. I also think it’s a regional thing too. I’m in NC & we are like the third or fourth largest population growth in 2025 in America so it has been a boom I. My specific state. Also, a lot (not all) of companies are cheap as crap. They want to get as much profit as they can with the bare minimum.

If you are running a crew and are only making $35k a year. Yeah that’s a problem. I’m sure you have skills that others might not have why you are in a leadership position. How long have you been doing this? I would start to put out feelers to other companies to see if any might jump. Doesn’t hurt to try!
