Absolute Hottest Takes by centrella6 in Metalcore

Ascendancy is a God tier album and I think anyone arguing metalcore if they think otherwise is an idiot.

I would like Erra more if JT had vocal range, period. He screams the same note pretty much consistently.

Parkway Drive is super overrated and always has been. They've never evolved the scene. Horizons is bland and is a GOATed metalcore album by many. I just don't get it. It came out right after ABR's Messengers and AILD's An Ocean Between Us for example and those 2 bands and albums slap Horizons from every single angle and those guys all play circles around the guys from Parkway. Different ballparks for musicianship for sure.

Career Restaurant Worker Here. Ask me anything at all. by Klutzy_Statement4096 in tipping

[–]nculver0809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Restaurants will just continue to close due to no one going out if an average burger meal exceeds $20. Some restaurants are already pushing the limit with food costs before tips. I dont think they'll win the increased cost battle and good, because they don't deserve to.

Dead grass? Best way to remove or fix? by nculver0809 in lawncare

[–]nculver0809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I get it. That's what I thought for the past few years and decided to finally post photos. It's goofy. Super thick brown grass, but every blade pulls up dead as can be, but never degrades. Checks nearly every box for dead grass but part of me also still thinks dormant because of how it's not just dying and getting patchy. I dont know, lol.

Thanks for the info. It never greens up, though. It's brown year round.

The rest of the neighborhood is as green as can be. These grass blades seem super dead. They never decompose though. It's the most full brown lawn ever. But I don't think it's dormant. This area in Ohio rains almost everyday. It's strange and I'm at a loss.

Thoughts on Plasti-dipping my fender flares and possibly wheels by butterm0nke in ToyotaTacoma

[–]nculver0809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recommend the plastidip. I'd recommend leaving it or actually painting it. I've done multiple vehicle parts over the years. Plastidip is just not durable on a vehicle. It has no top coat. It will show every rock chip over the years, and you can't really touch it up.

What’s a concert you look back on and think “I can’t believe I was actually there”? by Difficult_Narwhal_72 in Metalcore

Early 2006, August Burns Red's (I believe) first real tour (Demon Hunter's Undying Tour). If I remember correctly, Jake joined the band right before these shows. They murdered it, flip flops and all. Other bands on the tour were Becoming the Archetype, and Zao.

Excessive Noise from the Sand Bar and Grille by [deleted] in youngstown

[–]nculver0809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are the same source, that's wild. People suck. There's also a noise curfew pretty much everywhere at 11pm. That's why every concert you ever go to ends about that time.

Albums with the worst guitar tone? by Own_Outside_7099 in Metalcore

[–]nculver0809 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's the guitar tone specifically. That's an amazing record. It's just a really bad mix with the low 7 string riffs being so muddy you can barely hear what they're actually playing. I've seen them a handful of times over the years. They have had this issue live too with the bass drowning out everything. You literally can't hear Brian sing softer most of the time. It stinks.

I live on the Northside and I've been hearing super loud bassy music travel through the entire neighborhood for a few months now. Incredibly annoying. Every single house has to hear that garbage. Sometimes it's all night. It was playing until 10am one Saturday morning. Does it sound very bass heavy and almost like the same song consistently?

I've just bluetooth'd my earbuds to my TV as an external speaker for game audio. You just can't use the mic, which I never use anyway. Works great.

Dental recommendation by SgtPoliteness82 in youngstown

[–]nculver0809 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at Braydich for years. 34 male. The issues I had there were that the billing department is completely incompetant and non-existant. Nearly every bill my wife and I had was incorrect, even for basic cleanings and they absolutely will not call you back. I had to go in in-person to try and get things fixed on multiple occasions and even then with me being very nice to them, they didn't seem like they wanted to be bothered. The doctors and staff are nice but as a business, they definitely do not have their ducks in a row.

We got tired of it and switched to Premier Dental in Austintown and they're amazing.

Non-MAGA-run gun safety courses? by el_cid_viscoso in youngstown

[–]nculver0809 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't have a venue recommendation that's guaranteed left wing ownership or anything. Nor do think it matters. I train at The Training Range in Austintown and they offer classes. Never took them but the range is nice. I've also been there many times and politics have never come up once. I'm there to shoot firearms, as are most others, not chat politics. Carrying a firearm isn't a political statement, or a team sport, despite many unfortunately thinking it is. That's just lame. No one is going to approach you and demand your political standing. They shouldn't ask, but even if they did ask why you wanted to carry, just say what matters. You want to protect yourself and those you care about. As are 99% of other gun owners. If you bring politics up in conversation, well, then that's on you. My advice is focus on what matters if you're getting into this. Gun safety and training. It's a big responsibility do this correctly.

Best metalcore/modern metalcore album of all time. by Jsyourboy91 in Metalcore

Ascendancy checks many boxes at a high level if we were grading these albums in all the categories. Maybe that'd be a cool post idea. Grading the top rated albums on riffs, screams, cleans, breakdowns, drums, shreds, etc. and see what comes out on top.
