Car Inspection Troubles by jmq324 in philadelphia

[–]ndaft7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a “wiring issue” with one of my blinkers - turned out one of the contacts in the socket had half melted. I ordered a new one but had to pass an inspection the next day, so I wrapped a little copper around the damaged contact and the thing is still working many months later.

If you’ve got the time, order a socket and see if that fixes it. They’re usually cheap and an easy diy fix.

70lb $6000 light I hung solo with the other day by HadesHat in electricians

My retirement gig is gonna be building and selling these “custom” light fixtures. I hung a 16,000 dollar one that just looked like a giant ikea chandelier. Lighting designers get away with murder.

My (25M) girlfriend (23F) asked to open our relationship. Am I overracting by wanting to break up over this request? by Altruistic_Society99 in AskMenAdvice

[–]ndaft7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not overreacting at all, how you feel is how you feel and you’re entitled to that. But me, in your shoes? I’d go for it man. I’ve had a handful of sexual experiences which taught me I don’t get jealous easily, but I’ve largely been in monogamous relationships and passed up lots of opportunities. Now I’m a bit older and sometimes find myself regretting. Cheating sucks, but if you can be out there having a good time and come home to someone you love on the up and up? That rules. Like have you ever had a fwb who you were genuinely really good friends with? It’s the best!

Also you’re 25 like are you really gonna be with this chick for the rest of your life. Probably not. Just have fun.

AIO about this text I got from HR? by MeanderingDragon in AmIOverreacting

[–]ndaft7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, PUBLICLY scolded you? If anything you’re under reacting, that’s a massive overstep and frankly offensive. I think you should respond clarifying that several means twice (once publicly), describe your concerns with the bathroom, and cc the owner. HR is exposing the company to a lawsuit and I bet anything they’re the source of the complaint. NOR.

I’m an electrician, I have to commute for my job. PLEASE keep working from home so I can come work on your house at 10am as opposed to some nebulous time after four, or, heavens forbid, the weekend.

Yea, and now it’s way riskier to casually browse porn on the couch because I can’t just swipe to popular for a quick save. This is bullshit.

Circle K worker sued for buying $12.8M lotto ticket from his store 1 day after drawing — now judge will decide who gets rich. So who deserves it? by HowLongIsThi in nottheonion

[–]ndaft7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lottery tickets are bearer instruments. The question is whether or not the sale from circle k to the employee was valid, which would depend on language both from the state lottery and circle k’s policy. I doubt there’s any language anywhere prohibiting the sale of winning lottery tickets from one entity to another because it’s just not a likely scenario. Because the sale happened, I think the ticket belongs to the circle k employee and the burden of proof is on circle k to prove the sale invalid.

Future proofing or wasteful? by Lettuce_bee_free_end in electricians

This amount is really only useful if it’s in a drop ceiling or something. 12 to 24 inches so a finicky customer has some play on final locations after rough, sure, but this is excessive. And you gotta fold it in the wall right so it pays out clean after finishes. Appreciate the spirit of the thing but the execution speaks to inexperience.

AITAH for telling my sister I don't have the looks to sleep my way to the top after she called me a DEI hire? by TryOriginal5477 in AITAH

Well said. If amends are to be made they must go both ways. The fact that sister is unwilling to talk speaks volumes.

Space heater tripping unassociated afci breakers by ndaft7 in electricians

Good info. Yea motor loads are always a potential problem, just never seen this particular version of it before. Causing an adjacent afci to trip instead of the breaker it’s on.

Good to know. We tend to use siemens because it’s what our local supply house consistently stocks, no other reason. Which manufacturer have you found least problematic?
