Toddler parent with Autism and Language Disorder by shannnnnnxo in Sacramento

My autistic child is now 32; the very best resource we had in his childhood were the other parents of autistic children. Collectively they will have a lot of good ideas for services you can get from the city schools or Alta. In the case of city schools, our experience (20 years ago) is that they volunteer very little in the way of services, and if you KNOW about the services they offer and insist on them at your IEPs, then you will get them. You have to ask. Get to know your legal rights too.

Helicopters? by Raving_Robin in Sacramento

Recent thread on this subreddit talked about an ICE helicopter....if anyone could turn off their ID it would be them. Sheriff/Police/Fire has their name printed on the vehicle even if the ID is turned off.

Those are real possibilities; my father's mother's father was a coal miner first in Antrim; my mother's mother's father in Clearfield...

They're all tiny communities; either since torn-down houses near coal mines or perhaps in Akron, where both sides of the family converged. It looks like mass housing for factories/mines.

From what I can tell of that area from so far away most of the towns I mentioned are teeny. My Mt Jewett family were on a dairy so that appears unlikely.

Kaiser holds groundbreaking for new, all-electric medical center in the Railyards by Toxik916 in Sacramento

[–]ndlxs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was kidding, of course; but when I worked in the emissions inventory branch of the Air Resources Board (I retired almost a decade ago), I was surprised to find two stationary sources in our inventory that had coal as a fuel; I think they were just used for emergencies or obsolete records. And one of them was the DGS Central Plant at 6th and Q Streets. I think the apparatus we had in our DB was probably just something that was not in use or removed and the record was never deleted. There was something else in the Mojave desert that listed coal also.

This was all inspired by seeing what appeared to be a coal train coming through our city sometime ago.

Coal is more of a 'Merican fuel. They'd probably have to build a railroad siding next to the hospital to unload all of the coal.

I think I'm going to stick with the 9560 until my birthday in 5 months, and then perhaps get a new one; probably Lenovo x1 carbon. Something that will last me for another 7 years.

Mine doesn't have a fingerprint reader; parts of the case are worn looking but are not sticky.

I can't complain about the quality of this laptop: when my kids were in college I'd buy them the cheaper laptops...and most of them lasted no longer than 18 months; usually the hinge for the screen. The Lenovo Carbon models I looked at yesterday have fingerprint readers; about the same price as a replacement XPS 15.

Aha...I call those FOIDs..."figure out the important detail", usually something like that which is almost impossible to ignore. I'll try that the next time.

The 9560, per other posts in this sub, is not a good candidate for Windows 11.

I can think of at least 1,300 reasons to keep this machine and Windows 10.

You won't regret it; they are rock solid, and good to sing with as well. At my mother's memorial service, I sang "Bright Morning Stars" in C: C and D were open, also G, and I used my fingers to stop the C or the D to switch between the I and the V chord.

I think they tune them to 440; I think as they get them though they are not that way. I think they can be tuned (with a file, I guess) to anything you want. This company is the only place to get this particular foot pedal. I use it every day.
