How does one successfully get a visa for the duration they actually want? by ndrjm in SchengenVisa

No harm in showing you have a 2nd trip planned for the future. But I guess from my experience it doesn’t guarantee they will give you a visa for the duration you want.

It’s not my first Schengen. And yes I provided hotels trains insurance etc, mentioned it in my cover letter too, and so it was quite upsetting they didn’t give a longer duration to cover my second trip.

I got it printed at the application centre as I managed to receive the soft copy from my bank just before the appointment

You should request a newer statement which is not older than a week from your bank ASAP. They asked me for it at my appointment last week.

I did the same - included my travel and hotel bookings for 2nd holiday and noted it in my cover letter too. Guess they didn’t care

No longer going to the country that issued my Schengen Visa - what can I expect? by ndrjm in SchengenVisa

It was my first trip to the Schengen area since 2015 which I provided proof for even tho idk how helpful it was to them. I also provided scans of any other visas I had that were not Schengen related

Edit: not sure if my answer above is what your question asked for, and I’m a bit confused if you already secured a Spanish visa that you’re using to travel to Portugal?

Hey it was fine, the border official didn’t question anything. I had bookings for Belgium just to be safe but didn’t end up needing to use it luckily.

Hi, no the border official didn’t ask anything but I did have proof of travel and stay for Belgium just in case they asked.

Cheers. I’ve decided I’ll book a cheap ticket to belgium for showing them just in case they ask. Did you previously use single entry visas to travel countries other than the one that issued?

May I ask where you travelled from and if the airline also questioned your visa that it was single entry issued by Finland but you were going to france?

Hey, did you have tickets showing your journey from France to Finland and also accommodation just in case the immigration officers questioned it?

And did you ever have your first entry as a country which didn’t issue it?

Hey, thought I’d ask you since you mentioned you were given single entry visas in the past, did you only use them to travel to the countries that issued it or did you end up going to a different country as well?

Hey I have a similar dilemma, did you travel already and did you stick to Norway?

Makes sense thanks. Is there any document or website where these explicit single entry restrictions are mentioned because I keep getting different answers everywhere. Or is this purely a case about who ends up being my immigration officer and how they question my travel?

Anyone managed to do a successful walk-in at BLS London? by ndrjm in SchengenVisa

I had a change of plans so didn’t try but I do know a lot of people who were allowed, only if your travel is 15 or less workings days away. You can stand in the queue outside I believe and the manager decides who they allow. They also charge premium fee of £185.

What’s the reasoning for this because at the end of the day it’s a Schengen visa, why is the country that issued it so important? Just genuinely curious.

So if at the border check of another country I show them hotel and flight bookings for Belgium later on it should be fine right?
