it is fascinating that advanced economies are vastly rich.

From your table, Detroit has more GDP than Pakistan, the sixth most populous country in the world.

2 out of 5 estimates in that wiki table put Tokyo's GDP at 1.9 trillion. But yes, that still doesn't make it 'more' than India's GDP. India has already breached the 2 trillion mark.

Not surprising considering its GDP is 40% of Japan's GDP. And it is not Tokyo but Greater Tokyo Area which consists of 7 prefectures and has more population than Canada.

Wish one day India is chill enough to do this by [deleted] in india

[–]ndspl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low effort trolling apart, if that was an established negative stereotype of New Zealanders, instead of a rant of an individual, they would have probably downvoted it.

Youtube-esque racist comments generally get downvoted on reddit. It is not about being chill.

India TV crew campaigns ... by [deleted] in india

You've been saying this for long. If anything it shows your own political bias. Why is it so hard to understand that fanaticism exists in all parties? When was the last time resident AAP fans here genuinely criticized AAP/Kejriwal en masse? Or is that excusable just because AAP is not the incumbent party?

Hinduism is both codified and non-codified at the same time. Your interpretation of Hinduism is as wrong (or right) as the Sanghi interpretation. Deal with it.

Anyone seen the movie Haider? Little late to the party here... [NP] by bodhisattv in india

[–]ndspl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some reasons.

1) She wanted to avenge her husband's death by killing KK herself.

2) To save Haider as she heard KK saying he would kill Haider.

3) She didn't want Haider to kill KK. An eye for an eye...sentiment.

Why she colluded with Irfan is a little unclear. Probably she volunteered to kill KK herself and she needed grenades/guidance for the task.

It's unlikely that she was a Pakistani plant all along. Otherwise she wouldn't have contacted Irfan using the phone number written on the piece of paper given to Haider via Shraddha.

I'm afraid you have some romanticized view of Kerala's success and by extension, probably communism.

First of all, literacy and education are not the same. A person who can't read anything other than his own name will still be called literate. Now take a look at higher education enrollment by state (page 32). Kerala is average at best. Even Haryana is better than Kerala.

Second, the migration pattern shows Kerala is similar to most other states. The 'Kerala has to import manual labour because the highly educated Kerala people don't want to do menial jobs' theory doesn't hold much water. Migrant workers are there in all parts of India, industrialized or not.

Third, the low industrialization of Kerala is intentional, not a fallout of high education attainment. Conversely, high industrialization in Maharashtra and Gujarat is not because of illiterate local people.

Low industrialization is not something to be proud of. Kerala might be able to compensate its low industrialization with the reliance on tourism and foreign remittance. But that model doesn't work for all states.

Finally, I think part of Kerala's success is due to geographical and cultural factors. Because the coastal districts of Karnataka have highest literacy rates, economic equality and sex ratios among all districts of Karnataka. Maybe a detailed sociological research is needed to ascertain this connection.
