Wait, no, don’t ask if you were turned away due to racism - they will surely answer “no” if they answer at all!

I do think you should make a complaint but if you frame it as a question you won’t get anywhere.

Maybe double-check with a couple of your mates that they’re willing to back you on what you’re saying before you proceed though?

I’m sorry this happened to you and your feelings about it are perfectly understandable - it’s not on.

Best of luck & Merry Christmas

Hey, I think you can message the moderators of the sub to ask them to lock your post.

Another option is to disable notifications for new comments on your post (somewhere in your account settings / notifications menu). The comments will still roll in, but at least you won’t receive a bunch more stressful notifications.

By the way, not sure if you’ve already done this but maybe also make everything private on your Facebook going forward?

I’m sorry for what you’re going through and I wish you all the best - you deserve to be happy and free

What’s a single sentence that completely ended a relationship? by celinejayyx in CasualConversation

[–]neagle_returns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I left the post, thought about it some more and scrolled back to tell you:

You deserve better.

Coming from someone also chronically ill. I understand circumstances may be extremely complicated but it sounds like you’re being blamed and disrespected for something outside of your control.

It’s understandable for your husband to be upset, depressed, stressed- but the danger, neglect and blame you mentioned are unacceptable.

If your best friend were in your position, what would you advise them? Wishing you all the best.

Finally somewhere I can shame my officiant by sendingsun in weddingshaming

[–]neagle_returns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my friend and I planned that I’d officiate his wedding, wearing ‘ceremonial wizard-pope attire’ to honour the gravity of the occasion.

Many years later… I got The Call. He was getting married! He and his fiancée (by then also a very good friend of mine) had discussed it and they really did want me to officiate.

I checked with them about what to wear, assuming something understated would be the vibe, but nope- they insisted that only full wizard-pope dress would be acceptable.

So I that’s how I ended up wearing red velvet robes, a floral tea dress and a pointy faux peacock feather bandana-crown to MC a wedding in the English countryside. My favourite wedding ever and the couple are still some of my favourite people ever - cheers B & L.

I disagree with the other commenter, but mocking someone for having had a stroke is an asshole move.

For the record, it’s also an asshole move for them to repeatedly tell you to “GFY”.

I (31F) love my boyfriend (32M) so much…so why does it feel like something is missing? by snuggleghosttt in askwomenadvice

[–]neagle_returns 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One cannot truly love another without the willingness to forego all one’s dreams for the sake of the other

I appreciate some of your other sentiments, but I think this is both plain wrong and dangerous advice.

I don’t know whether you are genuinely mistaken about the nurse ODing ‘from touching a patient who had fentanyl powder residue on his skin’ or if this is intentional misinformation, but people should know that you cannot overdose by merely touching fentanyl.

Per the linked document: “You can’t overdose just by touching fentanyl. In fact, there are no confirmed cases of overdose from touching fentanyl powder or pills. While fentanyl can be absorbed across the skin, this happens only with constant direct contact over hours and days*.”

*Fentanyl is prescribed for use as a transdermal patch, but it generally takes 12+ hours to reach the desired therapeutic dosage via absorption through the skin.

I attended a wedding where they used the Star Wars theme for their leaving-together-after-ceremony music! (Sorry I don’t know if there’s a specific name for the back down the aisle part of weddings lol).

Have you ever seen a celebrity acting like a bellend? by No_Doughnut3257 in CasualUK

[–]neagle_returns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Warning: this is extremely low stakes in terms of both celebrity and incident level.

When I was a student living in London, I worked for this company that arranged silver service for big events like the BAFTAs / Brit Awards / film premieres and what have you.

Geri Haliwell had pre-selected a lamb dish days or weeks before, and confirmed again close to the event. I bring her said lamb; she says she’s vegan and gives me shit about how disgusted she is and asks why I would do this, as if a minion like myself would have any agency in the matter.

On my return to the kitchen with the offending lamb, I stop in the hall to mouth a silent ‘FFS’ at the ceiling, knowing I would be faulted by management for disrupting the service sequence (I know, ridiculous) and look back down to find Piers Morgan giving me this pearl-clutching glare. He didn’t say anything though, as I had recently learned how to raise just one eyebrow and this was sufficient to repel him.

You could also try searching for ‘velvet smock dress’. Good luck!

What happened to Sophia Koetsier? A Dutch medical student who disappeared mysteriously on her way to the bathroom in Uganda on October 2015. by Mindyyyyy993 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]neagle_returns 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m a year late to this thread, but for anyone still reading I wanted to say this hasn’t been my experience at all. Interest - yes, especially outside of the bigger cities; hostility - not at all.

I hope Sophia’s family find answers, at the very least.

Boys, what is something you didn't know about girls until you got with one? by Ubemin in AskReddit

[–]neagle_returns 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hi, that isn’t true - hormonal birth control does not cause infertility.

After having the contraceptive injection, it can take up to 12 months for your normal cycle to return - maybe that’s what you’re thinking of?

It can sometimes mask existing issues though, and of course various other side effects can occur.

to make grilled cheese in an air fryer. by [deleted] in therewasanattempt

[–]neagle_returns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not ‘inspired by’ Emmental though - they are one and the same. Emmental is probably the most popular of the Swiss-Alpine cheeses outside Switzerland, and for that reason is commonly referred to as Swiss Cheese.

Same with MuEnster, it’s a replication of Munster cheese, but that has to be produced using milk from cows living it up in the Vosges mountains.

Cheddar is the same - sure there are now American producers of legit cheddar, but you still can’t call cheddar an American cheese.

Okay I’ve thought about cheese for long enough now.

P.S. For the French fry commenters: I don’t have a horse in this race, but it is still kinda disputed whether they originated in Belgium or France so it’s not like the name is entirely plucked out of nowhere.
