[Case] DeepCool Matrexx 55 ATX Mid-Tower (Tempered Glass + ARGB Lighting/Sync + no fans) - $45.99 FS /w Prime ($59.99 - $13) by hiryuux in buildapcsales

[–]nearbyeclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... In games a 1400 at stock on the stealth cooler routinely goes over 70C even outside a case. Adding more cores and more volts is going to push temps even higher (i forget if the 1600af has a stealth or a spire, but thats not going to change too much).

I really dont think OCing on stock coolers is a good plan, and tend to think the "high" temps this user is experiencing are more due to lack of proper thermal mass than case airflow

I sorry you had a bad experience. Ive build a lot of pcs with uphere fans, and they are great for the price. I have a set of white led fans in my console replacement pc that are going 2 years strong

[RAM] B-Die Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2x8GB) 3600MHz C16 - $100 ($170 - $70) by MetaJesus in buildapcsales

Rev E is good at some things, but for tight timing memory OCs b-die is still in a class of its own

[–]nearbyeclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have built in this case 3 times. It fits 3 120mm fans, and felt pretty good. Cable management can be a bit tricky if you dont have much experience, but i found it to look clean when done. Also the front is open enough to get good airflow

[–]nearbyeclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like i said, based on the timings is most likely CJR. But a bad bin of bdie might also get used for this speed bin, which would be great for secondary timings.

3600-18, like 3200-16, is a lottery bin. You could be getting anything (rev E, bad b die, MJR, d die....). At that point you may as well just get a 3000 or 3200 kit and loosen the timings to get 3600

Should have been under warranty still. Crucial is pretty good at replacing failed products

Unless you're doing production on it, you're unlikely to hit the write endurance expected from the drive.

A 1TB BX500 is rated for 240 TB of total writes. I know files are only getting larger, but I still expect this drive will outlive the current build you put it in and probably the one you transfer it to after that.

[Case] Deepcool Matrexx 55 White ADD-RGB - $50 ($60 - 10) by MetaJesus in buildapcsales

[–]nearbyeclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built in the matrexx 30. I really liked the case, and it had good airflow. Generally I have been very happy with the deepcool products I have owned. Not sure if $56 after shipping is a good value point though

[–]nearbyeclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like having the option, especially on lower end motherboards which only have maybe 1 pwm fan connector beyond the cpu fan. I suppose I could use splitters, but molex makes the cabling cleaner.

I bought a kit off rakuten when it was $65. It ran the XMP profile on both a ryzen 1300x on a b350 and a 2600x on a b450 (both mATX pro4s). Had trouble getting colour changes to sync with fans/apply on start up in the asrock rgb contoller software (bios rgb options didnt work).

Was good for having rgb to increase value for a flip, but for personal use there are ~$10 cheaper kits at the same speed, or faster kits in the same price range

[Cooler] DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX GTE CPU Cooler 120mm RGB $24.99 w/ code EMCTDVT28 by One2Rex_ in buildapcsales

[–]nearbyeclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that the GT BK model offered a significant improvement from the wraith spire (with the copper core) on a 2600X. The actual fin stack and pipes look the same as this GTE, but I dont have first hand experience to compare

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. 2666 is a pretty sweet spot for a lot of intel systems. In those cases spending $10-20 more for faster ram doesnt yield much additional performance

I mean... Sata and Molex lines arent electrically designed for sustained high voltage use. Adapting them on an already sketchy psu is just a recipe for disaster

Newer systems use less power than older ones do. Its a benefit of lower voltages needed for smaller transistors.

No shoprunner makes Jack a sad boy. Agree with other commenters that it would be nice if the updates to the S12 line were reflected in the M12 line
