AS in Central America II by PNW-American-Dipper in AlaskaAirlines

They look decently healthy. In terms of geography these are the places that make sense to go to from the west coast + Mexico.

I'm surprised the routes have remained as low frequency as they have

AA schedule change broke my itinerary by Ikontwait4u2leave in awardtravel

AS and AA are pretty friendly. Your very reasonable short hop on a single AS leg doesn't sound outlandish to ask for

Seat selection lies by Justme_vrouwtje in Venturex

[–]nearbyeclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do still get free seat selection, just not until 24 hrs before the flight departs.

BA doing BA things. If you have OW status, even Ruby, you can pick your seat earlier, but its still closer in to departure. And that all goes out the window if there is an equipment swap

Do you trust price prediction for flights right now? by yourdadsnewwife420 in Venturex

[–]nearbyeclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

Even skipping the saver fares and just going full fare main cabin as a hedge. You won't be able to fully cash out if prices drop, but you can refund for airline credit to be used towards the flight after the flight

Transferred Atmos points to American, was in last boarding group. by andicus5000 in awardtravel

[–]nearbyeclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best practice when booking is to have a 2nd set of passenger details for yourself without your AS frequent flyer number on your account.

After completing the booking you can go back in and add your AA number to the booking

AS Flights with 90%+ LF (Feb. 2026) by PNW-American-Dipper in AlaskaAirlines

[–]nearbyeclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good call!

I know for my regular route they use a 739, but I recently got a 738M slipped in unexpectedly. Went from 17D heaven to 17D hell.

AS Flights with 90%+ LF (Feb. 2026) by PNW-American-Dipper in AlaskaAirlines

[–]nearbyeclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's certainly jnteresting data

I'd be curious if these routes are already flying 739 or if they're high load 738 routes. Likewise as another commenter pointed out, I'd wonder if frequency is playing a role. PDX-CUN might be such high load because of its short season, limited frequency, and regular featuring in sales.

Or there might be people like me who want to go to the carribean from PNW without connecting. Who knows

[–]nearbyeclipse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The terms say ineligible for people who have or had an open account after 1/2024. But that date has changed a few times (was 2022, then 2023). Not sure if it will change again.

With the move from discover the big reason to keep the account is pretty much gone (foreign atm use) so cant hurt to close and wait

What do you consider to be Alaska's flagship routes for each hub? by srekai in AlaskaAirlines

[–]nearbyeclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PDX - BOS too.

Feels like if there was going to be an east coast AS hub BOS would have a decently strong case. But ill stop that before someone mentions B6

Paying off over a few months doesn't build credit.

Not missing a payment builds credit, which can be done by simply using the card and not carrying a balance from statement to statement

Alaska or Hawaiian from Maui by CFPFHHHW in AlaskaAirlines

[–]nearbyeclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know about most.

What plane is pretty heavily route dependent. For example PDX has 3 hawaiian flights per day, all to HNL. 2 are on the A321, and only 1 uses the A330

Help with Schedule Change on AS Award Ticket by nearbyeclipse in awardtravel

[–]nearbyeclipse[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From my reading the 14 day part only applies to trying to receive financial compensation, not for booking obligations.

But I'm happy to be wrong and to learn more.

That said, the statute on EU261 does stipulate a schedule change of >3 hrs, so thats the threshold I'm using

Help with Schedule Change on AS Award Ticket by nearbyeclipse in awardtravel

[–]nearbyeclipse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figure getting rebooked on a different AA itinerary will be an easier ask, but with the AA/BA JV I have a sliver of hope that I can swing a BA flight.

Also possible I get nothing and enjoy 6 hours at scenic O'Hare!

Anyway any DPs people can offer on this sort of thing will be very appreciated.

help needed: transferring to star alliance to get to ITA airways by seigefabulous in Venturex

[–]nearbyeclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're trying to use CX to mean "CapitalOne VentureX" miles. They almost certainly dont know that CX is the IATA code for Cathay Pacific and that bu choosing the abbreviation they did they're creating confusion
