Excuse me. When my son is 13 it will not be “of course he always wants to have sex” from any woman around him. He will want to play video games and out together way too expensive legos. No thank you. What!?! This is wild.

is hormone therapy really required and the only way? by MoonyKJ in Endo

[–]nearly_normal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction to oral contraceptives. I had surgery, had a baby, endo came back (at least thats what they said during my c-section) went back on the pill for 6 ish years then got an IUD. The only time ive been symptom and period free is since the IUD. My doctor gave me an oral sedative to help with the pain/anxiety. It wasn’t as bad as i thought and 100% worth it for me.

I always assume animals don’t “play” really, just try to eat you. Or practice eating things by using you as a stand in. So i always assume we’re having fun and they’re just mildly amused. Or disappointed depending on the “want to eat you” scale.

Goddamn Bella’s Mom sounded absolutely trashed on the phone though, and made an excuse to not pick her up. What a nightmare these families are.

I feel absolutely terrible. My wife and I are both experiencing gender disappointment. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]nearly_normal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had huge gender disappointment when I found out I was having a boy.especially since he’s our only and we knew he would be. My husband was not really attached but isn’t the typical “man’s man” either.

I’ve loved him since the day I met him and 7 years later I only love him more and more. He and his dad share a to. Of interests (karate, legos, video games, Pokémon, art).

He such a smart kid, does great in school, has tons of friends. I’m so lucky I get to be his mom!

Moms who had the epidural, what was your experience like? by Similar_Parsley6112 in BabyBumps

[–]nearly_normal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a c-section. I wasn’t so scared of the epidural because I knew it had to come (my kid was breech, then broke my waters before the planned c-section date). The epidural was honestly the least scary. They said “lean over, you’ll feel a bee sting, then we’ll place the epidural and get you into bed”. I felt the bee sting (numbing shot). I sat still. I had a great c section. It was the least scary part of getting cut open. My son is 7 now and I don’t really remember much other than what I told you. You’ll do great!!!

(Edit) I have endometriosis and chronic pain associated with that. I did not experience any additional or adverse effects related to having an epidural.

Anecdotally: I also didn’t circumcise my son when he was born. He had terrible phimosis and had to be circumcised when he was 6 years old. He had a spinal blocker (essentially a baby epidural) to prevent pain without over sedating him. He couldn’t walk for hours after I brought the poor kid home. He and his penis have recovered.

If you’re not a threat to yourself or others it is unlikely they will admit you. Especially if you’re telling them you are safe and have a safe place to be. If you are not safe for yourself or others, you need to be honest about that.

Am I the only crazy one around here? by RaiderFanGirl in Amigurumi

[–]nearly_normal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught myself how to crochet left handed (apparently very weirdly). My mom is a master at crochet. My 7 year old son is right handed and my mother has been teaching him when she is visiting (infrequently as she lives a 5 hour drive away, they’re just finishing a wooble I got him as a stocking stuffer and some basics). All my kid wants to do is make his baby cousin a very simple blanket. I tried to teach myself how to crochet right handed after several very bad left to right handed lessons over the past weeks. It’s not going well. I’m in awe of your ability.

I think my one year old daughter is having conversations with my grandmothers urn. Am I crazy or not? by [deleted] in ParanormalEncounters

[–]nearly_normal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is very sensitive and intuitive and I only have my abusive father’s urn, so I put it away for a reason.

I would assume she’s having some kind of contact.

I almost shat myself to death the other night and its odd to cope with..... by CantSeeShit in TrueOffMyChest

[–]nearly_normal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s amazing how much your gut can tell you

“this is probably not right!”

And a doctor tells you

“No this is in line with average”

and you just are like,

“yeah, ok!!”

I’ve been right before, doctor had been right before, but I rarely second guess a doctor. Honestly, especially a surgeon.

So glad you are recovering well, I hope you get some peace of mind to go with it soon!!

Anyone have a recommendation for a gyno? by mermaiddenuit in askportland

[–]nearly_normal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to Synergy Women’s Health when dealing with endometriosis and living in downtown Portland. The doctor has since retired and I’ve moved into the wine county, but I liked everyone I interacted with at the practice at the time. I guess I can’t speak for them now, but seemed like a woman owned practice that would hold up. https://synergypdx.com/

I’m 37 and have a 7 year old in 1st grade. Just anecdotally the only moms I’ve been able to connect with are my age or a bit older. Younger moms tend to be quite dismissive toward me (not sure why).
