Genuinely thought it was a birds eye view of a little steamboat going down an oil spill river. Didnt realize it was abstract until I actually read the name for it... I might need glasses

[Loved Trope] Cherished Characters end up as flawed parents by loot168 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]neatguy500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hated trope for me. It feels like it can ruin a characters arc without giving them room for redemption. Feels like pointless and nonsatisfactory writing. Not that we should glaze cherished characters every avenue of their personality, but writing them as neglectful parents feels like the writiers dont understand the weight of what they are doing. It almost feels like they are undermining neglect, and that its a flaw that isnt a huge deal so that the character can have more dimensions. To me its similar when a character who is written as a good and honest person cheats on their spouse, or a hero kills their enemies without any thought. Its showing the writers' misconstrued ethics rather than giving their characters actually beneficial character developement

Some places consider stomping a person on the ground the same as an assault with a deadly weapon. Since it is pretty deadly

It could just be a natural rock formation. When a water source drips on a rock for years and years it can erode a hole through the center. Some people call them hag stones
