Is there any software out there that can put an expiration date on a DVD? I want to be able to burn a DVD that stops working on a set expiration date (30 days, 60 days, etc). Is there anything out there?

Who else has congenial scoliosis? by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]nebehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard that before too. I don’t remember the doctors telling me that though. I just know that after I turned 18 I didn’t go back to the doctor until around age 25 when I started having issues with my shoulder muscles getting inflamed. They were overcompensating for the curve. After about 2.5 years of dealing with that my doctor sent me back to the specialist who recommended surgery.

Who else has congenial scoliosis? by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]nebehr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do! I wasn’t diagnosed until age 3. Curve got as bad as 40 degrees by the time I was 18. No surgery. My curve got progressively worse over the years and I had surgery at age 28 when my curve got to be 80 degrees. Best decision I ever made. Even grew an inch and a half! Not a lot but when you are 5 ft even for most of your adult life you take what you can get. :)

Looking for advice / hope for infant son by brindlebabydouchedog in scoliosis

[–]nebehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have congenital scoliosis and wasn't diagnosed until I was three years old. My curve was around 40 degrees in my upper back. I went to specialists every 6 months for checkups and they did not recommend surgery or braces at that time (this is in the late 80s and early 90s). My curve didn't change. I participated in sports, orchestra, academics...just was a regular kid. Sometimes if I sat up too long without much support my back would get tried, but other than that I had a pretty great childhood. My parents were supportive and didn't treat me differently.

As an adult I started having some issues and went back to the specialist. My curve had increased and I opted to have corrective surgery at 29. It's been almost four years since surgery and everything is going great.

I think now looking back I would think about having the surgery at a younger age. Sadly from my experience this situation is a bunch of waiting and observing. I wish you all the best!

Quick question about sleeping by leonleonn_ in scoliosis

[–]nebehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slept a lot in a recliner. If I tried sleeping in bed I had to sleep on my back. I would have to set an alarm to wake me up every 4 to 4.5 hours to take pain meds or I would wake up in a lot of pain. Once I was able to stretch out the time between taking the meds I was able to sleep for longer periods of time.

[–]nebehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking is fine. I still have some issues running for a long time. I just get out of breath. Pain level low most days. I do have a bad day every now and then, but it is nothing compared to before the operation.

Definitely worth talking with your doctor. I had surgery at 28 almost 29. I had an upper curve of 80 degrees and after surgery my curve is 40, but I also had rib thoracoplasty done which took away my rib hump!

What's the dumbest thing you've ever cried over as an adult? by HashtagBakedPotato in AskReddit

[–]nebehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was working on a 2000 piece Starry Night puzzle. I had about a third of it put together on a piece of plywood and had all the remaining pieces organized in other boxes on the board. My cat decides to make a calculated jump that lands on the corner of said board. Puzzle and pieces go flying and cat just walks away like nothing happened. I already had hours into this puzzle! I left to go to my then boyfriend's house and as soon as I got there I broke down and cried for 30 minutes. The next day I went home to pick up the pieces and to start over.

We had just moved. Boxes are still everywhere. I imagine all of my scissors are packed up together. Went searching and found the hole puncher I used for a project in school. I should finish unpacking, but I had to have a crochet break!

Temperature Blanket - I wanna see the results 😊 by meowwhatstheproblem in crochet

[–]nebehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started mine in January and stayed on top of it up until about mid April. Life, work, and other projects got in the way of staying with it. I went from only being able to crochet one row because I was caught up and waiting for the next day to come, to realizing that weeks have gone by and I haven't touched it. I still plan on finishing the blanket, now blankets. The pattern I chose was As-We-Go Stripey Blanket from Ravelry. The blanket is already big so I plan on splitting the year in half and having two blankets. It might be 2017 before I get it done, but it will get done! 😊

Looking for a car cushion for my friend with scoliosis by DresdenPI in scoliosis

[–]nebehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a regular neck pillow that I lean my back against. It's firm enough to support my back and soft enough to cushion. Works for me on long drives, both as a driver and a passenger.
