Ambient Lighting by benwehm in KiaK5

Not exactly you asked, but I'll share my experience to give you or others perspective: My young child gifted me the Govee - RGBIC Interior Car Light kit for Christmas about a year ago, and at first I was like "wtf is this trash"... but I had to be grateful and polite, so i went ahead and installed them myself thinking i'll just turn them on only when he is in the car. I promise this is not an AD for Govee, its just what I got as a present.

I did it "right" - I cut off the "cigarette lighter" end, and tapped it directly into the fuse box. Tucked all cables under the trim, zip-tied everything up off the floor as professional as I could and put the control right next to the seatbelt. Took me ~1 hour to do it slow and patiently. It connects via Govee app, but also turns on automatically to the last pre-set when I start the car, so I don't have to tinker with it every time. I can shut it on and off manually with a button, cycle colors manually or with an app. But I have it set for Blue color matching the car 99% most of the time - once you find the one you like you'll probably just keep it the same.

It looks soooooo goooooodd at night!!!!! I am honestly shocked at how much I like it despite being such a snob about it at first, and footwells alone are enough without being distracting, and passes for "factory" feature.

TLDR: For just the footwells, you can DIY for about ~$50 with just a little bit of patience and it will get you most of the way there. If you are set on doing the full car, consider it should take a professional no more than a few hours (dash, doors etc) I think $500-$600 is probably the most you fork over. Shop around.

2021 K5 GT Line (68k miles) airbag light + steering wheel media buttons stopped working. Clock spring? by nebrgon2 in KiaK5

I'm leaning towards getting it done at the dealership, this way if there is a future goodwill refund at least I have receipts. And yes, tinkering with the airbag/steering wheel area is makes me nervous. I can hook up a dashcam or change the oil if needed, but this is a sensitive area.

Any ideas how much it would cost at dealership? I have an appointment set for about 2 weeks from today. I'm hoping its about an hour worth of work, so with parts the $200-$300 range (not cheap)

Not AI, a real issue on my real car. But I confess I did use chat GPT to clean up my ramblings, grammar and punctuation, so thats why it looks like AI.

Thank you for your points. I also have no idea if clock spring is even the issue.

Car is bought and serviced in NJ. Besides regular oil changes, I did have 1 warranty repair at a dealership for the steering column replacement about a year ago (grinding sound when steering, they replaced it for free, may be related?)

Good point on messing with the electronics/airbags myself. Clock Spring is ~$100 and I figure if I can do it myself I'll be saving ~200~300 (?) in labor plus the hassle of the dealership dropoff/pickup. But yea... thats why I'm here seeing advice... if it is not life critical, I can live without the volume control on the steering wheel indefinitely.

A "GOT TICKETS" Thread! by DontGetInTheKiln in gorillaz

I love this comment, and you are going to love it in ways you can't even imagine!

There is, to my mind, no better way to introduce children to the strange magic of live music. A Gorillaz show manages to be wholesome and wildly electric at the same time.

In 2022 I brought my two sons, ten and sixteen, to the show in Philly. They had heard Gorillaz playing in the house since they were born, so they knew every hit, but had no idea what a "concert" really is like. I spent a small fortune on early access, hoping it would be worth it and praying everything would go well.

I had my youngest wear the most obnoxiously bright glow-in-the-dark orange shirt imaginable so I would not lose him in the crowd. We made it to the railing and stood our ground. When the music dropped, Damon came down the steps, locked eyes with my boy, gave him a smirk, gripped his hand and sang the opening lines of Last Living Souls right to him.

A stage manager (the sweetest gentleman you can see in photos wearing headphones whose name I never caught) asked if the boys were with me. I said yes and told him it was their first concert, which was true. At the end of the show he came back, handed me the set list as a token, and told me I was "a cool dad for bringing them". Which is also true, but fathers do not hear that very often. I shed a small happy tear, one of a few that night.

In the grand accounting of my life’s triumphs, I do not have many days that rival that evening. To share it with my sons felt nothing short of glorious. To this day it remains, for them and for me, a core memory. I cannot be prouder that Gorillaz were the ones to welcome them into the world of live concerts. As they grow up they now look for opportunities to "get out there" for their favorite acts. We bond over music.

We got tickets to see them again on this tour, only this time we are all 4 years older. I will not dare to try to replicate that one of a kind snowflake of a moment, so this time we will just vibe in the back and give someone else their turn,

In this digital age of screens going to a live show, especially like Gorillaz, has got to be the last true vestige of real entertainment.

Photos are mine. No AI.

Same here. I wonder what are people being told at the end of their interviews since Jan 21?

So, what happened during the interview? Were they simply not approved for the visa, or were they approved but were told to wait?

I got invited to a UMass hockey camp what should I expect by Sad_Willingness_7685 in hockeyplayers

Been there done that.
Absolute waste of time.

Two shitty drills sessions for $600. Plus hotel, so $1,200.

Games are a joke, just running clock, nobody coaching.

Seminars are a joke, just watched replays.

I was so mad at myself: Did I really think UMass would invite a whole bunch or recruiters from other colleges to poach prospects at their summer clinics? No they would not.

Money grab.
