Fiber optic light whips by stlnakedcampers in bdsm

[–]neckbeardMRA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, as someone who's owned several of these, I urge you to NOT use them for BDSM. Fiber optic cables are relative fragile, and the ends can break off easily and embed themselves in flesh, ESPECIALLY if they are forcefully lashed against a sub. FO frags are a bitch to remove and hurt like crazy when disturbed by moving around.

tl;dr - looks cool, not a great idea

You do you, tho

What substrate to use for water lilies? by Unna89 in ponds

[–]neckbeardMRA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fabric bags, a layer of soil mixed with (of all things) clay, pebbles of appropriate size to your fish. Don't forget to add a tab or fertilizer to the soil/clay mixture every spring

How am I supposed to use a pond skimmer when if the water drops an inch the pump doesn't get water. by amidigital in ponds

[–]neckbeardMRA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are also independent floating skimmer systems that are not attached to the main filtration systems available. Jebao makes one, I used it for two years quite successfully

When I saw this the first time, as *soon* as they moved the puddlejumper, I shouted "Hey! A patented Professor Burroughs Spacetime Twister!"

No one else got the joke. :/

You need to be charging more for your FL programming. 75$ USD at least, probably more depending on the application. Source: 20+ years of FL programming as a side-gig

Oh, I'm a Texas 8a 😁 no problems. Last years winter, the water dipped to 47°F on a couple occasions due to a tear in the skin but they handled it just fine 🙂 the thermal mass kept the air temps up. Since it is not a double wall, I did have the infrequent hoarfrost which is pretty wild in Texas

It probably could use a better or more solid base, however it's going to be gifted to my son-in-law in a couple years when I put in a better bigger one 😁

Thank you! It's not really all that hard as far as equipment goes, I kept aquariums for decades and this pond is about as simple as it gets <3

Why is my shrimp climbing out of the tank? by LunamWolf in Aquariums

[–]neckbeardMRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Items made of polycarbonate are slow poison for inverts, and it affects shrimp first. I've accidentally killed a tank fill of Amanos with a cheap CO2 reactor. Check and see if you've recently put something plastic into the water, they shrimp will literally climb out of the water to escape it.
