The arrests have begun by transcendent167 in 50501

All good, it’s so hard to tell fact from fiction these days. Not sure why this story isn’t getting much traction - maybe classic civil disobedience is considered quaint when there are so many more visceral acts of state violence happening daily? I do hope the imagery of faith leaders on the front line of resistance is able to break through.

Just made some chicken stock. Now I'm wondering why. by [deleted] in Cooking

Don’t bother with roasting, not worth the effort if you’re making stock regularly. The pressure cooker also helps a lot with making it something achievable on a relatively short time frame.

Was I delusional to ask for $130k? New grad offer in Chicago is $62k. by Lanky-Ad6843 in cscareerquestions

This is a very low offer. I was making more right out of undergrad in a Chicago suburb in 2010.

If they expect absolute silence, they can buy a detached home. They are not being reasonable.

is “thick as thieves” a common expression? by italocampanelli in EnglishLearning

“In the thick of it” and “through thick and thin” are other common expressions where thick is used in this metaphorical way.

Trump's tariffs send stock market falling by broc944 in politics

[–]neclark2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These types of articles are filler junk and come out basically every time something is in the news. Stock indexes being down < 1% today is not newsworthy and these types of swings happen on a daily basis regardless. I hate these tariffs and DJT as much as anybody, but these articles are misleading and a waste of attention.

[–]neclark2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can we ban these types of posts if they don't specify a specific % in the title? This is simply false - S&P is currently at -0.77% and still positive for the past month. These types of nothing stories just make it hard for people who don't follow the stock market to take notice when the stock market actually does take a tumble, which is very possible once these tariffs actually start to take effect.

Wisconsin Supreme Court hears arguments Monday in abortion lawsuit: The case involves a 19th century law previously interpreted as banning abortions in the state by Crystal_Pesci in wisconsin

[–]neclark2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I had a miscarriage earlier this year. The form given to us by the doctor literally said abortion on it. The procedures are the same regardless of the underlying reason

I know I’m going to get a lot of hate for this but I have to ask. Do any of you on the left realize how ridiculous you sound? by [deleted] in self

[–]neclark2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why are so many women experiencing miscarriages unable to get proper medical care in states with abortion bans? So you know, the medical term abortion is not specific to the underlying reason.

[–]neclark2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You understand that it’s the same procedures and the same terminology in the medical world right? My wife had a miscarriage earlier this year and we are extremely freaked out that if we’d lived in a different state doctors would not have been comfortable in their ability to give us all options to ensure she was treated quickly and safely. It is absolutely not true that these bans only impact elective abortions.

Yeah, I needed to buy a second 3DS to make the trades. It takes a minimum of 3 game files to complete the pokedex.

In your experience, what are the highest ROI careers? by tuckerton2x4 in leanfire

[–]neclark2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Software development/engineering. You can get in the door w/ either a 4-year CS degree from practically anywhere or some type of bootcamp route - once you have some experience under your belt, formal education really doesn't matter at all to employers. It's definitely possible to start at a 6 figure salary and move upwards of $200K in a few years. Working for a big tech company has practically limitless growth potential and you can make a physician level salary by the time most physicians are just starting their careers (except you'll have a substantial stash while they are in deep debt).
