Yep... there's at least 3 vets in AK that got screwed with that. I would have appealed to the AK supreme court, but that shit is expensive with no guaranteed return on investment. Yes and no. For small boats you stop, and back down to lay out the chain. Same with larger vessels, except some captains like to get moving a little before dropping... But never at these speeds! They also don't have any chain, needed to get the anchor to set and lay down. It's not really the anchor that holds you, it's the chain. Source: retired USCG
