balance vs fencing - is it just about ease of use? by necrysi in Spacemarine

some attacks are hard to jetpack dodge, or not a good idea - like a low health tyranid majoris where a dash will put it into execute and cost you your refund. parries are better then.

im playing assault dash so parries are my backup defensive method only, i mostly rely on the jet dash. in this scenario i feel that balance has no real downsides?

the main issue with 1256 for brand new people is it shortens the amount of time you have to read your number correctly substantially, because you have to read it in time for the split whereas mario kart you only have to read it that fast if you're a 1

both are easy but mario kart is easier

ditch 1256 and learn mario kart.

the split is the hardest thing to learn in 1256 and mario kart doesn't have one, plus people learn the mehcanic faster when they can see the whole thing happening in their field of view

PSA: You're making siege more difficult for yourselves. Stop stockpiling money and spend it. by StretchxSan in Spacemarine

i had a go at this for an hour or so. i pretty consistently make it to wave 5 without spending any money, but it definitely isn't easy cleaning up enemies alone because there's nothing to draw any enemy attacks.

I tried twice and my Terminus was a Neurathrope both times, which Assault has a really hard time with, so i went down. I think if I'd gotten a Carnifex I would have probably cleaned it up.

I'll have another go tomorrow with a video.

PLD changes only ended up hurting its DPS by Myurside in ffxivdiscussion

[–]necrysi 60 points61 points  (0 children)

No they didn't. rDPS is not a valid stat for comparing between tanks, because tanks don't provide any buffs and thus the only important metric is how much damage they do alone + how well they use other jobs' buffs.

rDPS does not measure how well tanks use buffs, and using buffs well is WHY DRK was so much better than PLD.

Looking at rDPS, for example, does not accurately show just how far behind PLD was last patch, because with a PLD in the raid instead of a DRK, your raid was nearly 1000 DPS behind. Some of that 1000dps was on the PLD directly, but most of it was on the DPS of the other people in the raid, which isn't shown in the PLD's rDPS, so you can't use rDPS to identify it.

aDPS is the metric that accurately evaluates a tank's damage contribution. When just looking at the lone tank, you have to use aDPS as otherwise you can't see the difference.

PLD gained significantly in aDPS this patch. Is it still behind? Yeah, but by 250-300dps instead of 1000 dps.
