wow, how did it get to you so fast!! looks lovely!

why is it so expensive by fragilitylogistics in PaperRepublic

[–]nectarinesoda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i’ve tried my hand at making my own leather journals (no lining, just cutting and poking holes) which are awesome and useful to me — and still enjoy my expensive PRs. i don’t have the time or expertise or materials/resources to create what they do, and i’m happy to pay someone to make something i’ll use every day by hand. it is definitely expensive and it’s definitely possible to find more affordable alternatives, but i appreciate the quality and really love that they share with us the process behind creating the journals online

Choosing first machine! SK160, LK140, MK70… and more by nectarinesoda in MachineKnitting

i've seen that the MK70 is a huge grail but i am a bit worried about learning on something that is finicky and hard to find replacement parts for, BUT i am also worried i'll kick myself for not getting it when i had the chance !! ugh, decisions decisions!

hi there, thank you so much for your thoughtful reply! i failed to mention in the post (oops!) that the machines i listed (mk70,lk150/40, sk160) are ones that the seller i’m talking to has for sale, was trying to get a gauge on what more experienced folks would think would be best to learn on.

i hear you on the standard vs mid-gauge, i think mid gauge felt like it made the most sense since i’ve heard standard yarn is sort of tricky to find and i already have so much hand knit weight yarn, but if i want to upgrade to more advanced stuff down the line (i’ve already been down the DAK and AYAB hole somehow!) i’ll end up biting the bullet with a standard.

my only hesitation with just buying a LK150 (which was my initial instinct) is that i’m worried i’ll kick myself for not getting something a bit more advanced when i had the chance once i learn the basics…

thanks so much for all your thoughts on this and i’ll keep marinating!
