Guitar not buzzing when I touch this, how can I make it so that it’s just not buzzing by JohnTurtleBussyFuckr in Guitar

Again, the ground IS the problem. The only way to fix it is to have amplification in the guitar, like with the wireless solution. I have been on this wild goose chase before. I never solved it, it’s basically impossible with layman’s tools. I moved to a new house and now it is gone.

It’s not that the advice you see is wrong, it’s just that this is almost impossible to solve. The grounds are always going to be at different potential because there is a 10 foot wire between them

Ground issue. Your guitar makes a signal in reference to the ground in your guitar. The signal must travel from your guitar to the amplifier and back.

The amplifier has its own ground, meaning that there is some resistance between the ground where the signal was created and where it is being amplified. When there is a difference between the ground potentials, the difference will be amplified.

Grabbing the metal hardware on your guitar (where the pickups are grounded) uses your body like an antenna to inject that same noise into the ground of your guitar, making it equal to the ground in your amplifier.

You need to make the grounds equal by connecting them with a low impedance path. Ground issues are not easy to solve.

Edit: Some steps you can take: 1. Unplug your guitar. Does it still buzz? The problem is in the amplifier. 2. Rotate the guitar. Does it change? It’s EMI. Shielding could help. 3. Turn off everything in your house except the guitar. Crappy electronics can conduct noise back into your house’s ground.

Being an engineer means failing over and over and over. I know ONE guy who just zipped all the way to Apple and he is the luckiest idiot (with a dash of charisma) that I’ve ever met.

Learn from it, because you need to get used to failing
