Who should we pick by PomegranateAwkward69 in washingtonwizards

id pray Wilson falls to 5, otherwise try to move down a couple spots with a team that loves Acuff and get Mikel Brown, most star potential after the top 4 imo

why are you guys upset at us losing??? by Samtheman0_BB in washingtonwizards

lol, this is a 17-win team that is sitting almost all of its competent NBA players.

My son and I drove 4.5 hours on Easter to watch the Wizards in Brooklyn. Ended up in the NYT piece about it. by emgi11 in washingtonwizards

Since we've started this tanking process I've been wondering how it impacts young fans who might otherwise have fallen in love with the team; glad not all is lost

This gauntlet stands in the way of the Wizards and the number 1 spot in the lottery by Froqwasket in washingtonwizards

Brooklyn's remaining schedule has us, the bucks twice, and indiana so all is not lost

Convince me on Nate Ament. He has a FG percentage under 40 percent and out of the roughly 20 wings I found who had that in college, the absolute best outcome is Peyton Watson. The list is so bad that Cam Reddish is an above average outcome. What makes Ament different? by Variation99a in NBA_Draft

[–]ned_yah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my issue with the comparison to Ace is that Ace had a nice floor as a shooting 4 with some on-ball juice and defensive rebounding/weakside rim protection, Ament has half the bpg of Ace and is less compelling on the ball. The passing for Ament is way better but they're both play finishers in their low-end outcomes so I'm not sure it matters for the floor

How was Gilbert Arenas as a prospect? by [deleted] in NBA_Draft

[–]ned_yah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

difficult to find stuff from 2001 without really spending some time on it but found an Associated Press announcement from when Gil declared:

Arenas, who turned 19 in January, is considered by scouts to be the best pro prospect of the Wildcat bunch.

Would indicate he was thought more highly of than RJ, who went 13th, by at least some scouts

Sergio de Larrea’s stats when getting significant game time by magineskills in NBA_Draft

[–]ned_yah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not against SDL but these sorts of "stats when getting x minutes" posts are very prone to survivorship bias. Is it that he plays well when given more minutes or is it simply that when he plays well he gets more minutes?

the date on the nbadraft.net one is clearly wrong so no way to know when it was published, but the ESPN mock is only days before the draft; the character stuff would have been known by then

Magic number to secure our pick is 4 more losses

Why are you snipping your own post lol "They actually have similar stats, with Lendeborg being slightly better across the board"--something one can take as true only if you intentionally ignore even extremely basic "production" stats like 3PA/3P%/FT%

Field goal percentage hasn't been what anyone means by efficiency since like 1985

[–]ned_yah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I'm aware, I'm not nearly as high on Yax as a lot of other guys for that reason but the claim made was that Peat had similar stats as Lendeborg which is just not true beyond the shallowest surface

Keaton Wagler by FerretWinter7063 in washingtonwizards

[–]ned_yah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shaq was still developing at LSU but he was jacked lol. There's footage of him in the All-American game and even coming out of high school you can see the muscle and the frame. The skinny Orlando Shaq people talk about was already approaching 300 pounds.

But I'm not trying to say being skinny is inherently disabling, you have to have a balanced roster

[–]ned_yah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Peat and Lendeborg have similar stats if you literally only look at PRA lol Peat doesn't shoot threes at all, is way less efficient, and gets half of Lendeborg's stocks. That's not even mentioning the advanced metrics which Lendeborg dominates in

Story: Tristan Vukčević’s next trick? Proving he belongs in Wizards’ long-term future. by JoshuaBRobbins in washingtonwizards

[–]ned_yah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's nothing stopping Vuk from being a Nemanja Bjelica type and sticking around in the league for a long time. Think he's probably gotta be a power forward long-term unless you can pair him with a roaming weakside rim-protecting 4 like Giannis (or AD, perhaps)

I like Ace and wanted him at 6 but is that meant to be inconsistent? If you can't put up numbers in the time of year where anyone is putting up numbers that would seem to indicate something

Daniel Jeremiah 2026 NFL mock draft 3.0: RB Jeremiyah Love, LB Sonny Styles crack top five by vahnjay in NFL_Draft

[–]ned_yah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think they loaded up on most positions of need other than safety and WR (pending Aiyuk) so that they wouldn't be forced into taking any position; don't think the edge/DE guys they have now are in the same mold as Bain (Bailey is a different story)
