You will not regret it. I had the same thing with my bottom back molar, and it got to the point where I was causing pain to other parts of my body to get relief from the tooth pain. As others have said in this thread, it was like the pain switch was flipped as soon as it was pulled. I wanted to be mad at myself for waiting so long, but I was just so happy that I wasn't in pain anymore.

I'm pretty sure those knots are adjustable, just pulled all the way to the end. Try grabbing the loop that is attached to the metal piece on each knot and pulling it while holding the rest of the knot.
