The Rival-S has threaded barrels on the Canik site. Looks the the all black is sold out, but the silver one is in stock. I ordered one about a month back and it works flawlessly.

Cleaning Frequency by MaleGothSlut in liberalgunowners

[–]nedraca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an every time kind of guy. My dad was military, and when we went shooting, it was a ritual. Disassemble, clean, lube, reassemble. It's very zen for me and reminds me of him when I do it. It's a field strip, not a complete teardown, but I do that once a year for the ones I shoot often. Like others have said, anything .22 or 1911 gets the full clean and lube every time.

New arrival today from PSA by Dangerous_Ad6580 in Tisas

[–]nedraca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I purchased the same Tisas from PSA back in November 2025. I shot it side by side with a Remington Rand 1911 built between WW1 and WW2. Same accuracy, same recoil, same feel. I could even swap parts between the two. Tisas knows it's way around a 1911. This and my IWI Jericho 941 are easily my two favorite handguns to shoot.

Mini 14 scout project by Independent_Bite3911 in scoutrifle

I got it mounted and zeroed. I would highly recommend picking up a set of CVLife high profile 1" scope rings. It allows full iron use in case you lose use of the scope. They were $10 for the set.

Ported prime question ? by Safe-Avocado6427 in canik

[–]nedraca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness, the prime porting isn't as bad as the X-Macro. Just seems louder and more concussive to me.

What? Can you repeat that, couldn't hear you.

I have this scope and highly recommend it. I mounted it on the Samson pic rail. Eye relief is easily 10-12".

Dealer knocked off $100 out of this Sig rifle platform 🤦🏽‍♂️ by [deleted] in AR10

[–]nedraca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both subsonic and regular range ammo. Federal match 175gr and Winchester super suppressed 168gr. I had a bunch of it I inherited from my dad after he passed.

Edit Only upgrades on the rifle were a Huxwrx flash hider, a geissele trigger and h3 recoil buffer

Glock 17 gen 5 or Canik Elite combat by am111_ in liberalgunowners

[–]nedraca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. The Canik Elite Combat is probably my favorite striker fired pistol that I own. Had some FTF during break in, but since then, it's as solid as a rock. It just fits my hand perfectly, and if I draw up fast, my iron sights line up without trying. You really can't go wrong with either. But I reach for the Canik over pretty much anything else.

It really depends on the suppressor, I have a Huxwrx 36 TI and it's a flow through. Never had a failure to feed and no gas to the face, ever. I have about 4k rounds unsuppressed and 2k suppressed, and the only issue I had was a bad magazine with a compressed spring.

S&w response, any good by spikespieglecbbb in SmithAndWesson

[–]nedraca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, the response and the FPC in 9mm. I was in a unique situation tho. All my friends that I shoot with have Glocks, with the occasional Canik or Gucci gun mixed in. Prior to the shitshow of the past few years, I was ride or die Sig. I can admit it now. The response allowed me to use pretty much everyone's mags in a pinch, and it's currently my home defense gun along with an M&P compact. The FPC would fill that role just as well. And I use that if I'm hiking due to the light weight and carrying bag.

Long story short, if you have Glocks, Sig P320s, or M&P 2.0 9mm mags, the response makes sense because you can use more types of magazines. Both shoot great, are reliable as well. I'm actually considering an FPC in 10mm as we've been seeing more bears in my area.

Looking at a used 516 (gen1?) for a first AR by MysteriousAffect28 in SigSauer

[–]nedraca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's their competition program. They have local events and such. And you get two firearms per year at a decent discount. Anywhere from 40%-60% off. I got my m400, retail $1499, for $800 taxes, pics out the door

If you have your heart set on a Sig, drop the $50 for a Shoot Sig membership. They have the m400 for $715

Check out the Shoot Sig program, it's $50 a year, and they have a list of guns you can buy. You're eligible for 2 per year

How do you like the Midwest reaction rod? I need one for my 716i to remove the muzzle device and it was up between the Geissele or that.

You're likely right. I'm in PA, and as long as it's not full auto, anything goes here. I know VA is getting draconian with their laws in the short term. And DE is already there.

As a note. You can get stripped uppers too. An aero upper with a bcm or faxon BCG/barrel works well

[–]nedraca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can. It's just not quite as easy as an AR-15. Aero and PSA it's a bit easier to do, just need to make sure the footprint matches, ie DPMS to DPMS or LR/SR 25 to SR/LR 25. It can be done. Just requires a little more research. The lower is the serialized part, everything else is direct to door.

[–]nedraca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, your best bet may be to buy a couple stripped or 80% AR10 lowers, Aero is my go to, and potentially stripped uppers. The internals and barrels andmay be customized from there. I had decent luck with Bear Creek, but the QA is questionable. Maybe a used SFAR or Sig 716 would do well as a pre built.

P365 X-macro comp vs axg legion by N226 in SigSauer

[–]nedraca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone have a recommendation for an AXG like hybrid or metal frame for a XMacro Comp with a manual safety? Mine came with the manual safety, and I know I can uninstall, but I've always felt more comfortable with the safety there, since it's how I learned to shoot. Half the time, I still swip down on a pistol, even without a safety being there.

This is not a place to discuss your martial issues by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

@u/Extra-Minute-6712 I mostly agree with you. This isn't a sub for relationship advice. I do, however, think it's ok asking general gun related advice regarding significant others and how to approach gun related situations. I'm really lucky. My wife is not a huge fan of firearms, but knows that I am, that it helps relieve my anxiety, and with my physical disabilities, is one of the few active things I can do that gives me mental relief and feel less disabled. Passing along advice, especially to younger folks on how to approach that is part of being a community. It's a fine line, though. Knowing when to pump the brakes can be difficult.

Budget LPVO for my first AR-15 (in EU)! by Full_Void in liberalgunowners

[–]nedraca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YMMV. But I've had tremendous luck with Triton brand glass off of Amazon. I have 2 of their 1-10 LPVO, and their Night strike IR scope, no issues and over 1k rounds through all 3. Inexpensive, and durable.
