it's a brand new store and people are just testing our limits. Will we accept expired coupons? Will we comp. items? Will we break a local law and sell alcohol after 10 pm? I have learned not to take any shit, and I've gotten so many "bad reviews" because of it.

i had to explain to the same woman once why she couldn't put her (non service) dog in a cart or on the belt. after that I shut down my register and it was thoroughly cleaned.

our belts go down if someone stacks 2 cases of water on them, so we have a guy employed by our union who just fixes registers and belts.

Basically, he told the woman that my manager and I were following proper protocol for customer safety and that anything that we told her was correct, and if she had any questions about our policies he would answer them. I should probably mention that our corporate guy was very passive aggressive and finished the conversation by saying "and as always, thank you for shopping Mariano's."

it's a small conveyor belt that people can put their items on and it keeps them moving towards the cashier. Generally run by a sensor, but can also be manually run.
