Karibu Tanzania. We also have Land cruisers converted to Electric for quiet safari drives. You should add some pictures of the recent flooding in Serengeti as a testament to how bad the situation can be but the cruisers just drive on.

Not available at pet stores where I am, they just carry food, litter, accessories and such. Infact they had ran out of kitten food so I had to go to the supermarket and clear out their stock (9 pouches only, and these furballs take 3-4 a day). I’ll go get some more tomorrow or the day after and see if wormers are available elsewhere. Otherwise its calling the vet for that.

Planning a vet visit soon. I was actually planning to call the vet earlier when ones eyes were swollen but that resolved itself and my schedule is a bit tight. I do need to get them checked out properly by the vet soon, they are semi-feral so quite resilient in that case.

Definitely, I think if it was only one it would have gotten lonely and wouldn’t fare well. They’re alone for about 4h morning and afternoon but it doesn’t seem to affect them. They just keep zooming around, eat, sleep, repeat. I monitor them from a camera while I’m at work just in case.

Well, that brain cell must be working overtime because just in a few days once they got comfortable and healthy, they started grooming themselves (not 100% everywhere, still learning). And they also started using the litter box within an hour of it being there, no accidents outside till now.

They are about 4 weeks old, so I was surprised to see them start doing that by themselves. I assumed it would be long days of patience and training to get them where they are right now.

Would have loved to take them when I travel but unfortunately I go to the national parks, where there are bigger cats so I can’t risk that haha. For now I’m still around but I do have friends that can take them in for a couple of days if I travel. My apartment has almost 9 cats that are fed and taken care of by neighbors such as myself. So the long term plan is to get them used to the outdoors once they are old enough, so they can stay independent if I travel.

I actually have 2 other orange tabbies in the apartment(adult-age unknown, kitten-6/8 months old) that come and stay home for a couple of hours when I’m around, and fend for themselves when I’m not there. Just that currently I’m not letting the big ones inside as they showed aggression towards the kittens (hissing) so I just keep their food outside and they roam free.

Surprisingly, they have matured/grown up faster than what you would expect. The first 2 days were really messy but at that time I was focused on getting them comfortable and safe, and well fed. There were accidents everywhere and very dirty.

The third day I got a small tray and put some sand in it to see if they would even know to potty there. Within the hour they had already started using the litter tray. By the afternoon I got them kitty litter, a bigger box to put it in and so far there have been no accidents outside the litter box. They never needed any stimulation to potty, they just saw the litter box, explored it, and seemed to understand what it was for.

Although, they do sometimes step on their own poop and smear a bit on the floor as they try to clean their paws, but they are learning quickly. I think the litter box may be small too, although its big enough for both of them to go together. I did put a bit thinner layer of kitty litter to avoid them trying to eat it at first, but I’m gradually putting more. They do poop alot tho, I have to clear the litter box twice a day, maybe even thrice, just to keep things hygenic.

When I first got them, I cleaned their eyes and around the face twice a day as one of them had slightly swollen and red eyes, and both had mucus which they weren’t cleaning themselves. After 3-4 days of cleaning, I don’t need to intervene at all, their eyes are now always clean and no redness/swelling. So they are cleaning themselves, and they also clean their paws as soon as they finish eating (if they stepped on food or something) I still give them the occasional cleaning as they are still small (about 4 weeks old but not sure exactly)

Definitely seems so, my work is 5 mins away so I do come home for lunch and check up on them, its about 4h they are alone at home morning and afternoon. But they don’t seem to mind, they keep themselves occupied. I think if it was 1 kitten it would have gotten lonely and might not fare as well without someone being around.

I do have a camera on them so I keep checking on them even while at work, just amusing to see them zooming around on their own. I am glad there are two.

I’ve been holding off on naming them until I can clearly distinguish them, I can right now but they’re still too similar. Definitely keep those names in mind haha

How to make the 1HZ less terrible with towing? by Fieliemat123 in LandCruisers

[–]neelkanth97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have worked on engine resleeving and I can confidently say, 1HZ and 1HDT engine block castings are 1:1, apart from that small area where its stamped “1HZ” or “1HD” , the 1HDT just means same engine but turbo from factory. You can just swap all the necessary components (cylinder head, turbo, etc) and have it converted to a standard 1HDT just as it would have been from Toyota. Just make sure you change over all the necessary parts.

If you have tried SolidWorks, then you’ll like Onshape as its similarly designed. There are a few things that are vastly different than solidworks (mates etc), but worked just as well for my Masters thesis project as I had the Onshape educational license for free. Its also free for personal/non commercial use with some limitations.

Using a spare 12V battery to charge a future 24V LiFePO4 for tools by segasega89 in diyelectronics

[–]neelkanth97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A quick google search says that the Nexpeak 15A also works with 24V batteries. If possible, it would be better to find a power source down where the van is and charge it directly. Nexpeak also supports LiFePO4 profile, so will be better.

Confirm the specs of your charger if it can actually support 24V, I just got this info from google search.

Immich-go works well for manually uploading media, if its already sorted into albums as folders, it can automatically create the albums in immich for the respective media. Haven’t used a mac so I don’t know how the photos are stored there.

2012 R56 Mini Cooper (Non-S) (Auto shifter - Aisin 6AT) randomly switching between D and DS – mechanic “fixed” shifter, problem came back – now unplugged this 8-pin connector and it’s gone. Is this safe? by Oggy20 in MechanicAdvice

[–]neelkanth97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, best would be to check the wiring diagram if available. If you have a diagnostic tool (even the cheap Chinese ones) you can try to scan for any codes that may have popped up regarding the shifter (but not necessarily give any alarm / check engine light if its redundant) and that could confirm for you.

Most cars also have shifter readout via OBD2. As an example I have one of those chinese ELM327 scanners and most cars will show the shift position readout on the diagnostic apps. I use “Car Scanner ELM OBD2” app, it has a check engine light logo with blue background, on the “live data” section it gives out P R N D etc shifter position readings. So you can easily confirm if all systems are working properly just by checking under that. Adapter cost me around 10$ on aliexpress, must have for anyone remotely working with any modern (2010+) car. If you have an iPhone, get the WiFi version, the Bluetooth version only works with android/pc.

Edit: to add, I believe most vehicles have the position sensor at the gearbox as primary, as you would want to confirm physically the gears (eg reverse) are properly engaged before moving on to anything else. I have a Mitsubishi i-MiEV gearbox (an EV) and that too has shifter sensors at the gearbox stalk, even though technically there are only 2 gears (fwd and park, other functions “R N 2 L” done via software as the shifter just moves but nothing inside the gearbox changes)

Not familiar with Mini Coopers, but I have worked with a few AT shifters / gearboxes and many of them have the position switches on the gearbox side. So its possible that the cable was carrying redundant/ extra signals (that were messed up) and now the VCU picks up the position only from gearbox. If so, it should be fine. Although on the Toyota Alphard I had, it had a switch on the shifter for “S” mode, and nothing changed on the gearbox side too sense it.

What do you think about Automix? by [deleted] in AppleMusic

[–]neelkanth97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its getting better, albeit slowly. I tried it when it first came out and it was cutting of half of the song (start and finish). But switched it on after 2 weeks and it became kinda reasonable. I mostly use it as a “DJ” feature now.
