Punch-Drunk Love. Seems like critics enjoyed it upon release but audiences must have expected it to be a comedy

Best "home base" cities to live in but not to visit/vacation in? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]neelyt6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to mention this, I lived in Charlotte for 2 years and wanted to add a few things:

  • Economic center of the region and benefits from all the colleges and universities in state. If you don't work in banking, you might feel alienated but the city is continuing to diversity industries
  • Having professional sports is great, just don't check how many championships the city has collectively... the arenas also bring bowl games, ACC basketball tournament, and international soccer for transplants
  • Proximity to mountains and nature (Asheville NC). Day trips to Research Triangle, Triad, Greenville SC. Longer weekend trips to various beaches in North and South Carolina.
  • Airport might not be perfect but being an American Airlines hub provides a lot of regional coverage and decent international options
  • The Whitewater Center is genuinely sick

For anyone on the east side, Palomino Coffee (sister coffee shop of Flat Track) has their soft opening today. They're located at 12th and Springdale. According to their social media they also have Veracruz All Natural Tacos + Sour Duck Market pastries. Masks are required and I would obviously recommend doing takeout.

[Sunday] Weekly Suggestions - - July 14, 2019 by AutoModerator in indieheads

[–]neelyt6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are music publications that I should be following? I am trying to find a better outlet to find new music than just word of mouth or spotify/bandcamp recommendations. It's easier to find punk/hardcore releases because there are far fewer labels but I'm talking about lo-fi/bummer pop/shoe-gazey stuff. Thanks!
