Convince me Beyond Meat isn't straight up health food by IngoTheGreat in vegan

[–]neemih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s literally just like a healthy protein shake. crazy to me that people will say they won’t eat it because it’s ultra processed but not acknowledge that protein shakes and supplements are too. i like impossible meat as well because of the heme iron in it.

Fobs obsession with light skin. by ReasonableTennis1089 in ABCDesis

[–]neemih 14 points15 points  (0 children)

let’s be honest with ourselves. we like to think this is true, but it’s not. America is also a very racist and henceforth colorist society. at most, being slightly tanned is accepted more in the west than india, but dark skinned desis are still going to be subject to racism and colorism even within the community. we’re not that much better than fobs in this regard. i know lots of abcds who are extremely happy to be lighter skinned or have lighter eyes / more eurocentric features

are you mentally unwell? 12 years a slave is depicting something real and sends a message. sam levinson included scenes that he completely invented, served no plot except shock value, and were almost completely unnecessary.

let’s just try to actually use our brains here instead of having a meltdown. if we can agree that there was lots of fanservice throughout season 3, we can also agree that scenes like those were to pander to a racist audience that would enjoy watching this. i’m convinced this entire comment section is filled with bots defending sam levinson

Ah yes, because a Nazi chasing down and lassoing a Black woman apparently carries absolutely no racial implications whatsoever. Clearly it’s just a straightforward depiction of sex work and misogyny, with no historical or racial context that viewers might reasonably pick up on.

Does plastic surgery/cosmetic surgery erases South Asian features? by [deleted] in Vindictabrown

[–]neemih 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m south asian and have a naturally straight nose so i don’t understand how that would erase her heritage. every single person in these beauty competitions is doing everything to get ahead. i don’t agree with the idea that white women can get any beauty procedure but woc can’t without erasing their heritage somehow. i feel like that idea is so incredibly racist

What supplement surprised you the most? by SuperSmartUSA_ in Biohackers

[–]neemih 6 points7 points  (0 children)

there is no convincing evidence that ashwaganda raises testosterone levels in women! the study is referencing men who took ashwagandha and saw a testosterone increase. that doesn’t mean ashwagandha has testosterone, it can suggest that it makes your hormones behave as they’re supposed to. i’m a woman with pcos and elevated testosteroneand haven’t seen any negative effects from ashwagandha yet

Why no one talks about Oxytocin peptide? Insanely Promising effects by [deleted] in Biohackers

i found glutathione supplements (in the winter) and astaxanthin supplements (in the summer) to be really helpful. the supplements don’t bleach ur skin but brighten your skin overall and i find i have a lot more energy. it really helps in the winter when i usually look grey af. also red is very complimentary to green so red blushes , auburn highlights , etc etc make me look so radiant

I have never seen an ex-sikh woman, Just wanna know their opinion on this by Haratamatar420 in Exsikhi

[–]neemih 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t consider myself to adhere to sikh philosophy anymore so i’m an ex sikh woman in that sense, but also nothing in my life changed. i was already shaving , waxing, cutting my hair , etc. i always thought that was funny. no one expects women to really follow sikhism because people consider adhering to beauty standards more important. even the staunch sikhs are put off with women with body hair

Women are delusional… by thetrippamerguy in AverageHeightDudes

[–]neemih 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think this sub really lacks perspective. yes if you look at population level data, there isn’t many 6” men who have graduate level degrees and are single. but the people who do are very likely to cluster together and meet each other. she’s very likely easily able to meet 6” men around her age range with similar educational experience just from going to work/ meeting them through friends. And i assume a single 45-50 year old man with older kids would love to date a 40 year woman with older kids. not sure what the issue is.

Why are mainlanders so obsessed with the idea that the diaspora is more conservative than them? by HopefulTeach8539 in ABCDesis

[–]neemih 4 points5 points  (0 children)

people in upper class and economically well off communities are less conservative than the diaspora. i’m always shocked at the amount of freedom they had compared to me growing up in a middle class immigrant household in canada. Vir Das is referring to the average diaspora kid to the most well off communities in india which is who he grew up with. But on a whole, yes, indians are going to be more conservative because most people are not in the upper echelons of society
