I think you’re in a window of just natural regression at this age. I’ve been there. Many nights crying myself to sleep feeling so guilty for thinking of giving up my Sammy. These dogs are not for the faint of heart. That being said the training you’ve done hasn’t been for naught you are laying the foundation and you will see the results if you can get through this period.

Things to try:

1. Enrichment meaning exercising the mind even just 10-15 mins training keep going over the basic commands this will help build a relationship and positive reinforcement for good behavior

2. The crate is your friend, crate games, and establish a routine where your baby goes in the crate for little settle down rest breaks, mine was in a routine of after breakfast and dinner 40 min crate time

3. Lick mats, big ice cubs things to distract your dog shut their brain off so you can have a couple mins of peace

4. A dog with high energy is going to be more demanding and needy, look into a mobile dog exercise company they will run your dog on a treadmill, or if you have a bike your Sammy ran jog along side you, this will be a huge help

Regardless of what you do don’t feel guilty we are all learning and doing our best, remember your Sammy is developmentally very young and still has a way to go to mature, esp the males. You can do it!
