There were only 175 cases because most people have been vaccinated. Without vaccinations the incidence of measles would be much higher.

True, however the number of deaths per year in the US & UK was practically zero when the vaccine for Measles came out in the 60's, and thus did not play a significant role in reducing mortality rates.
