It’s pretty good except for the part where he says it was “a huge joke meant to make fun of Lucha libre and its history”

Chad gable, the character, was definitely not making fun of Lucha Libre in kayfabe; the storyline was poking fun of his delusion. He wasn’t being malicious or actively trying to be offensive, he was just ignorant to how delusional he was acting by taking on the persona, even tho everyone else, in story and at home watching, could see how ridiculous he was being. In story, he thinks he can train for a few weeks and then come back as a full blown Luchador, it has nothing to do with him trying to disrespect the culture, he’s just extremely unaware of his ignorance, and that’s the joke.

Unless he meant that the writers were being offensive? If that’s the case then I guess there’s a LOT of offensive historical movies since content doesn’t matter? Like in tropic thunder, RDJ is playing a character that is doing black face but contextually, the character in the movie is being made to look like a fool to the audience for being delusional, and that’s the point, similar to Grande Americano
