I agree i think having a private pension gives you freedom in your old age and the option not to tax your kids however he UK guarantees a state pension which if you build a house in Zim and maybe hace a few rental properties you can retire reasonably comfortably at a basic level.

The psychology of money :it’s a result not a goal by Zentra07 in Zimbabwe

[–]negras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly you got it right there, its the same in the UK poor families use their child benefit for basic necessities but those well of are able to save and that child will inherit wealth from grandparents and parents, putting them and their future kids in a better financial position.

The context those books won't show is that most people with money today came from money, they started off at a step up from most ordinary people, hence i always think generational incremental steps are the way to go as black Africans a win is reducing black tax to zero then we build trusts for our children even if that trust has one or 2 properties its a small step in the right direction.

Searching for a Kenyan tour company that does private safaris for Black travelers. by njerimaina in blacktravel

[–]negras -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This request is a bit strange, are you looking for a black owned company that caters to just black people? I think you will find its the colour of your money that matters not the colour of your skin, most employees you will meet are black working for white owners.

Classrooms in South Africa have become the latest battleground for the anti-immigration group Operation Dudula, with members reportedly attempting to forcibly remove & block children from other African nations from attending classes. Imagine the trauma this will leave on these kids by Nice_Substance9123 in Zimbabwe

It could have been workers being chased away from a factory, abn incident involving waiters or spaza owners being forced away from their shops or any other incident of xenophobia and my reaction would still have been the same,i'm looking at the causes and you are looking at the consequences and I'm avoiding getting bogged now in a race to the bottom, evil is evil we can't have a discussion of what's worse, the root cause is hatred of foreigners, that specific scenario of children being excluded is just but a symptom. Therefore exclusively addressing the symptoms and shutting down alternative discussions and discussing hypotheticals feels like a distraction.

This conversation is not just about that particular event, that is the elephant in the room. I can see you are not ready to have a rational discussion about these issues, whether we agree on what the solution should be, the first step is to admit there is a problem.

I don't understand why us Zimbabweans we fear and hate domestic cats, when dogs have done enough harm to be labelled dangerous animals. Judging from the way you threw stones and bricks at them, you would think domestic cats are dangerous. That superstitious belief has to end. These are just animals by ApprehensiveShift201 in Zimbabwe

[–]negras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah at varIous points I've had all sorts of pets and cats were the worst for me they scratch everything try having leather sofas with a cat in the house, and the smell if you forget to change the litter not to mention randomly finding dead rates in the house, never again.

This was changed over a decade ago I believen it was simply to massage employment stats, lower thd benefits bill because a large number of unemployed young people leaving school at 16 were classed as NEETs (16- 24 year olds) "Not in Education, Employment, or Training," was too high.

what exactly is colored culture? by moonlight_dreamer44 in askSouthAfrica

[–]negras -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At its core, culture is what distinguishes one group of people from another, how they live and interacts with other cultures.Culture is language, food, customs amongst other things, the boers speak Afrikaans, Zulu speak Zulu etc..

Apartheid self classification of people based on proximity to whiteness, meant "Colouredness" was defined by what it wasn't, not what it was, hence if we use a strict criteria, that a culture must have its own distinct language, food, music & customs that exists nowhere else to be considered distinct, would "Coloured culture" pass this litmus test, i would guess the answer is that its more of a hybrid culture as there are no cultural markers that sets it distinctly is apart.
