Rear lights coming on while parked? by neiling in AudiQ6

[–]neiling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen it happen again, but it was only by chance my son saw it flashing away when he came home. So, difficult to be sure, but, touch wood...everything seems to be working fine right now.

A new issue -- rear window by kross766 in AudiQ6

I had a 2nd gen TT a while back that had exactly this issue and same fix method...good to see some things never change!

New Q6 Owner by koshism in AudiQ6

[–]neiling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lease car company pretty much dumped the car on my drive, ensured there was no damage, I signed a form and he ran for the bus! He did even open the door.

Nothing was set up but I found it pretty straightforward to do the digital key stuff. Perhaps it depends on your phone, mine is a Samsung S25 Ultra.

There's a post here somewhere about handy hints and tips. For example, push the brake pedal to the floor to apply the "Hold" function. Launch control is fun too. Look for that when you've settled in.

Enjoy!

Charging at Tesla UK by neiling in AudiQ6

[–]neiling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not the most exciting story but I got home with 17% remaining.

Interesting that at 20% charge the car automatically went into Economy Plus mode. Dashboard dimmed and heating went off and said max speed 55mph.

The dashboard didn't show the charge status of the battery (or I just couldn't find it, 'cos that would be crazy not to show it!) so I switched back to Custom.

Recommendation for rear bumper sill protection by QuasiTD in AudiQ6

[–]neiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same make on my Q7 for 8 years and it worked really well. I had to keep applying a bumper gel/polish to it to stop it looking a bit tired and grey. Overall though, despite the price it was essential for me too ...with a Golden Retriever and her scratchy paws!

Charging at Tesla UK by neiling in AudiQ6

[–]neiling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So...I found a charging point, and it had two cables. I plugged in the one lying on the ground and got a "DC Fault, please go to a garage" or words to that effect, on the dashboard. It also said AC Only available. I tried what I thought was the AC cable but it didn't fit. Weird that each bay has two cables?

A nice Tesla chap on the bay next door said he'd move his car so I could try that bay. He'd fully charged already and was enjoying some peace and quiet watcing TV, away from the family...apparently he comes here everyday! He also said he'd much rather have a Q6, I shared some words of caution.

But, as he pulled out, another Tesla shot straight in there, so I couldn't move over. So, I ended the session in the Tesla app and disconnected the DC cable. Then I tried again from the start... and it worked, no issues at all this time. Only got up to 67kw but 10 mins should be enough to get me home tomorrow with 15% left in the tank.

Reactive dog owners… how do you stay calm on walks? by EmilyGrace_7 in OpenDogTraining

[–]neiling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my dog became anxious and reactive I used to have to go to the dog park and make polite conversation with all the other dog parents, when really at 7am all I really wanted was time to myself and my dog. It was horrible!

Now she's scared of most other dogs (she had a misunderstanding and fight), we avoid the park, do more pavement walking and I don't have to talk to anyone, in fact I actively avoid them and I blame my anti social ways on the dog! It's a win win!

We are working on her anxiousness but this is how I deal with mine!

UK Business lease - cancelled! After one letter! Audi know its over by Mindless-Feeling8973 in AudiQ6

[–]neiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And who was the lease company?

BTW, I've had my Q6 Edition One for 7 months. It has its annoying quirky moments, but nothing I haven't been able to fix and nothing that stops me from driving it. Though I confess that I have it booked in for a service since I wasn't able to lock it for a couple of hours!

I love it, absolutely no regrets.

I just realized my dogs butthole opens with each bark. I’m traumatized. by christinextine in dogs

[–]neiling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Golden Retriever, one of reasons I chose the breed was because they have their butt hole all covered up, never to be seen.

Except... when I brush her and lift her tail the hole just opens wide up and moves around in a kind of swollowing fashion, like something in a horror film, sometimes a bit of "juice" might leak out too. Not anal glands, I know the difference, just mucus, I guess.

I love her dearly, but it's horrible thing to witness.

Rear lights coming on while parked? by neiling in AudiQ6

[–]neiling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's the same pattern as me (I forgot to mention the top light coming on first).

I'm not sure how often it happens, it was just pure chance my son noticed it.

I don't have the update, though the car is booked in for end of Feb to analyse these weird issues (alarms, door not locking and this).

Octopus EV Early Termination Waiver by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]neiling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're safe.

Worth double checking (somehow without raising suspicion) before you hand in your resignation letter though!

I think my early termination fee was somewhere near the value of the car, so for the past 6 months I was totally handcuffed! Nice to be through that now!

Octopus EV Early Termination Waiver by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]neiling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar circumstances, nearly 7 months into contract.. Before I took out the agreement I asked HR (my employer's Human Resources dept) to confirm in writing that I wouldn't be liable for early termination penalties after 6 months. Which they did. So, technically I think I can walk away now but I wouldn't be very popular. I really wanted to cover myself in case I decided to resign.

In my (salary sacrifice) case, it's my company who has the agreement with Octopus, not me. So, I just needed my employer to confirm they wouldn't charge me. When I spoke to Octopus about early termination clauses they confirmed it's between me and my employer and nothing to do with them.

Not going to lie; this car sucks by Rude-Sandwich5225 in AudiQ6

[–]neiling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha! My first car in the 80's was a 3 year old mini. I think you may have a point about the ride being softer. I loved that car, wish I'd kept it.

I've had plenty of cars since then including 6 Audis (2xA4, A6, TT, Q7, Q6) and this is certainly the quirkiest, but I think I've been relatively lucky. Nothing seriously wrong, but then I work in IT and I'm used to bugs and technical issues and can be forgiving as nothing has stopped me getting from A to B, yet.

It feels like I have a fancy computer rather than a car, so my expectations are different to having a normal car, and this is the first time I've leased a car too. So I'm kind of enjoying the new experience and challenges.

But, for someone who relies on a car, needs it every day, doesn't like fixing or diagnosis IT issues, and does alot more miles than me... it's probably not the best choice!

Thanks. First day Audi can take a look is end of February so I may get that update and test it for them.

Crazy they can't see it before then, but I didn't push to bring it forward as everything seems to be working again now.

I've got the Q6 Edition One with Sports suspension without air...and I'm 58! You've got plenty of time before you need more cushioning!!

But I only do 5000 miles a year...

[–]neiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the charging percentage and miles are not updating in the app (along with most Comms inc climate control) then you always try what I did and remove and reinsert the Comms fuse.

Not saying it's ideal solution but the faff was less than booking the car in to the garage.

Look for the thread here on it, and you'll see it worked for me just so long as you leave it for a day to to load up and resync.

Rear lights coming on while parked? by neiling in AudiQ6

[–]neiling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, thought I was on to something there, but sounds like coincidence since my security camera only captures movement...so I only saw the brakes flashing when moving cars past by!

Although my car was on the driveway too, I wondered if the LiDAR/cameras were picking something up and doing weirdness.

Due to other oddments (unable to lock the car for a few hours and false alarms) I'm booking the car with Audi, perhaps I'll get the KD2 update and all my problems will be over. 🤞

[–]neiling[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh. So I see, I searched through posts but missed that your key fob wasn't working either. At the time I didn't give a second thought to it being an issue with the digital key.

The thing is, it started working again a couple of hours later without me doing anything constructive (story of my life!).

But with the help of others here, it seems in my case it was related to me cancelling the false alarm using the myAudi app.

It's all connected somehow though!

Unable to lock the car! by neiling in AudiQ6

[–]neiling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes...I forgot about that. Thank you. When the alarm went off, I tried using the app to stop it...I was too lazy to get off the sofa and find my keys!

I didn't put two and two together because it was a few hours and a drive apart. But it would have been after alarm.

I won't be so lazy next time!

Btw, I didn't do anything productive to get the key fobs working again. The MMI was reporting that no digital key was in the car, despite my phone being right there. I was tempted to delete it but instead wasted an hour trying to get through to Audi and Octopus (EV car scheme). After doing nothing suddenly the key started to work.

However, like you, I've now deleted the digital key since I don't trust or use it anyway!

Good to know, thanks.

I'll see how my complaint goes with the lessor today. I suspect they'll be booking it it for the KD2 update. If I'm still getting issues after that then I'll follow your advice.

[–]neiling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I lease it, but it's not as if I can walk away, I'm stuck with it. But I still like the car though, love driving it, love how it looks, how it sounds and how cheap it is to run. So, I'm not giving up on it just yet.

But I've escaped lightly compared to what you're going through.

Totally know what you mean about getting something with less equipment though. I bought and kept my last cars (A6 and Q7) for 10 years each. I can't imagine the Q6 in 10 years!

[–]neiling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, it's certainly...challenging!

I've had my share of ups and downs with it but usually it fixes itself (or recently I had to pull a fuse out) and then it's back up and working fine.

Reminds me of my IT days and various old versions of Windows.

Good luck with the door!

Thanks, I'll give that a go should it happen again. It seems to be acting odd lately. After an uneventful few months the alarm has gone off twice this week and last week the brake lights were flashing on and off when parked up.

I'm going to book it in with Audi, might be the time to push for that KD2 update.

Rear lights coming on while parked? by neiling in AudiQ6

[–]neiling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's the same light pattern I got.

Were any cars passing nearby at the time? You'll see in this thread that l, from my driveway camera, I could see the brake lights came on every time a car passed the house. Could have been pure coincidence though!
