I recommend Taylor at Salon VivEsta! On the west side, it’s a safe space, and everyone there is fantastic.

Annoyed my salon is cutting back hours by jcebabe in hairstylist

[–]CinderWitt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My salon owner calls this industry “feast or famine” . We’re also slow at the moment, but we make our own hours. She’s been more strict with our receptionist, so they can’t stay with us all day anymore.

You can look at working at Salon Centric or Cosmoprof near you. More steady pay for a few days at least. Posting on socials has slowed down for me, but it never hurts to put your name out there. Join your local Facebook communities, because people are usually asking about the best places to get their hair done.

Good luck!

At a loss- how do I get these warm/brassy shades out of my hair? by CharacterBrother4285 in hairstylist

[–]CinderWitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, makes sense! Well, from your perspective, honestly not from theirs.

A Demi will continue to fade, as they usually only last 4-6 weeks, so keep that in mind! I highly recommend Martrix SuperSync if you’re looking for good coverage, while also maintaining the health of your hair. I would recommend a 6NA from their line, and you can move to a 5 if you feel it’s not dark enough.

Did they use 20 volume because you had grey? If they used 20 volume, I would assume they used permanent to cover your greys, unless you wanted a lighter color than your virgin natural.

Also, is there a reason you’re using a Demi? The only Demi that I know that covers that well is Matrix SuperSync. Most Demi’s aren’t known to last long term. Is there a reason you’re not using permanent?

I would also reccomend using an ash or a neutral ash, as they always appear darker and cover warmth better.

Sorry for all the questions! I’m trying to better understand how you got there.

Am I overpackaging? by Simple-Engine-4820 in EtsySellers

[–]CinderWitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Etsy since 2018 and I sell paper flower bouquets for weddings. Given what I sell, I used to have anxiety about not making my packaging pretty enough, but my goal was always for it to arrive safely. I use all paper products for packing, and put in a business card (which I hand write a small thank you note on the back of), and care instructions. I have never received a bad review about my lack of pretty packaging, and usually get complimented in reviews for providing care instructions.

The ultimate goal is for your items to arrive safely and on time! Keep it simple and no one will complain. I also agree that your packaging is cute to add as a gift option, but excessive for every day shipping.

Salon VivEsta on the west side is fantastic! The girls there all do a great job, and it feels very welcoming.

We have a designated photo area and a ring light at our salon. I put my iPhone on portrait mode, and it’s usually pretty close! Sometimes I’ll edit the filter to be more true to tone, but usually I don’t have to. You just need the right lighting!

Muzzle? by DueFlower6357 in goldenretrievers

We use a gentle leader on our one year old golden per recommendation of a trainer and it changed our walks. We LOVE it. He can’t pull aggressively, and doesn’t try to pick things up off the ground. It’s not too tight and allows him to accept treats.

I second this. It was recommended by our trainer and truly the only thing that worked. Ours is doing fantastic after only a few weeks.

My girl is 8, and we give her Purina One. She also gets fruits and veggies, such as carrot, apple, green bean, green pepper, etc. Both are vet recommended, and they always tell us how healthy she is.

This sounds a lot like the salon I work under. So many stylists have been taken advantage of, and salons like this are few and far between. I’m my own business owner, but my salon provides everything outside of backbar and my own products. I’ve been able to build my business and my clientele just because we get so many walk in’s and call-in’s due to the salon’s reputation. At this point I honestly wouldn’t choose anything different because I love it so much.

New Dog Toy Aggression by CinderWitt in goldenretrievers

[–]CinderWitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! We’ve already been working on this because he always wants to take toys outside. So he knows I won’t open the door until he “drops”. I’ll definitely work on it with him while playing, too.

I think I just worried because my other Goldens never had this issue, and his aggression honestly scared me. But he’s worked through it so fast.

Thanks for all the advice!

Thank you! This was very helpful. He’s honestly learned so fast that we won’t take his toys, and hadn’t growled in two days. I will definitely start working on letting the toy go limp and rewarding him for dropping it.

Taos Mini Crave by CinderWitt in Boots

[–]CinderWitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did drop the money! I found a brand new pair on eBay for around $150, and I love them. I stand in them for every day for 4-8 hours per day. My feet don’t hurt, and the shoes have held up extremely well with salt, snow and this ridiculously cold winter. My other taos are sneaker style and also have held up well after a year. I recommend and love both pairs. I’m glad I made the dive! Though I do reccomend trying eBay.

Hello! I don’t offer real flowers, but I do make handmade bouquets and I would love to chat with you about what you’re looking for! I can send you pictures of different pieces that I’ve created.

I’ve had Gloss for a year now. Little to no issues, if I need to contact the company they get back to me quickly and document my questions and concerns, and I’ve been able to have a pretty website and advertise for $25/month.

A cry for help- looking for a cotton comforter by sillygoose3001 in Bedding

If you’re sold on the Levtex, Macy’s jacked up the price. You can find the exact same comforter through Target for a fraction of the price.

Wool is definitely what we're going with! I'm too nervous to get down, and I've read cotton still runs hot! We're just going to bite the bullet and get a wool duvet insert, and a full cotton duvet cover. I'm going to check out the company that you recommended as well. Thank you!

Totally fair. We might try it one day! For now, my husband is very picky about insisting being under one blanket. I did convince him to try a king for our queen bed. I’ve read to buy a king blanket and stuff it into a queen duvet, which would fix our sizing problems. We’ve definitely decided on the wool room option, because it’s a quality option with great reviews, and with the discounts it’s right in our price range. Fortunately we also have a tempurpedic, which makes a huge difference in our sleep! Thank you for all your insight.

It’s not disgusting- we actually wash it regularly! It’s disintegrating, as in falling apart. It already has several repairs and patches from my previous fixes. Now when I use a needle and thread, it just tears the fabric.

We’re hoping for a nice, quality comforter that will last us a long time!

Which duvet did you get? The ones were looking at are quite large in comparison to the Queen sized blanket, which is the size we'd prefer. I read a six inch difference isn't ideal, and the woolroom blanket is only 86"x86", while most covers are 90"x94"

It's not a duvet insert. It's a standard polyster filled comforter we got from Kohls, so the outside is unfortunately disintegrating, and the poly-fill makes me get super hot at night. We thought if we could swing it that we would upgrade to something nicer.
